Škoda Kylaq Sportline Arrives at ₹11.32 Lakh With Blacked-Out Styling, 17-Inch Alloys

Mumbai: Škoda Auto India has expanded the Kylaq line-up with the launch of the new Kylaq Sportline, priced from ₹11.32 lakh (ex-showroom). The new variant introduces a sportier visual treatment inside and out while retaining the 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine, manual and automatic transmission choices, and the safety package offered across the Kylaq range.

The Sportline becomes the seventh variant in the Kylaq family, joining Classic, Classic+, Signature, Signature+, Prestige and Prestige+. Its arrival also forms part of a broader update to the range, with Škoda adding convenience features to some of the lower trims.

Speaking on the introduction of the Kylaq Sportline, Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Škoda Auto India, said, “The Kylaq continues to take European technology closer to Indian customers, and the new Sportline brings an added emotional appeal to the range. It reflects what our customers are asking for – distinctive design, everyday practicality, strong safety and long-term ownership confidence. With updates across other trims as well, we are further enhancing value while giving customers more reasons to choose the Kylaq.”

Black Is the Theme

The Sportline differentiates itself largely through darker exterior detailing. It gets Deep Black ORVMs, glossy black front and rear diffusers, LED projector headlamps and a Deep Black dual-tone floating roof.

The treatment continues with 17-inch black alloy wheels, black lettering on the tailgate, a Sportline badge, a rear spoiler with finlets and a Sportline sticker on the C-pillar. In short, Škoda has discovered that a strategically applied coat of black can make an SUV look considerably more serious — an increasingly popular formula across the industry.

Customers wanting an even more distinctive appearance can also opt for a dedicated Sportline Accessories Pack. It includes a front bumper corner garnish, dark chrome front grille garnish, fender garnish carrying the Škoda logo and glossy black body-side moulding.

Darker Cabin, Familiar Technology

The Sportline theme extends into the cabin, where the roof, dashboard and door trim receive darker finishes. Leatherette seats feature Sportline labels on the headrests and contrast stitching, while aluminium pedals add another visual reference to the model’s sportier positioning.

Equipment includes ambient lighting, wireless smartphone charging, an electric sunroof and Climatronic automatic air-conditioning.

The Kylaq Sportline also gets a 25.6 cm touchscreen infotainment system and a 20.32 cm Virtual Cockpit, combining the visual makeover with the digital equipment expected from the higher reaches of the compact SUV segment.

1.0 TSI Engine, Manual and Automatic Options

Mechanically, the Sportline continues with Škoda’s 1.0 TSI turbocharged petrol engine. Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual gearbox and a six-speed automatic transmission.

Škoda has not positioned the Sportline as a higher-performance derivative with additional engine output. Instead, the focus is on giving the existing Kylaq package a more overtly sporting appearance while retaining its everyday mechanical specification.

That distinction matters: the black wheels may look ready for a starting grid, but underneath, this remains a Kylaq intended for the commute as much as the occasional enthusiastic drive.

Five-Star Bharat NCAP Rating Continues

Safety equipment remains a key part of the Kylaq package. The SUV carries a five-star Bharat NCAP safety rating, while six airbags and a broader suite of active and passive safety features are standard across the range, according to Škoda Auto India.

The Sportline is also covered by the company’s Škoda Super Care package, which includes a standard four-year warranty, four years of roadside assistance and four labour-free services.

More Equipment for Lower Kylaq Trims

Alongside the Sportline introduction, Škoda has revised equipment levels elsewhere in the Kylaq range.

The company said the Classic and Classic+ variants now receive convenience equipment including Climatronic Auto AC and a rear defogger, improving the specification of variants positioned lower in the range. Škoda’s announcement also identifies the Signature among trims benefiting from additional customer-focused features.

The broader changes come as the automaker seeks to build on the Kylaq’s role in its sales growth during 2025 and the first half of 2026.

Motorsport Influence Behind Sportline Branding

Škoda traces its motorsport involvement back to 1901, and the company says the Sportline’s design treatment draws inspiration from that history.

Sportline and Monte Carlo variants are already offered within the company’s Kushaq and Slavia ranges in India, using styling and interior changes to provide a stronger visual connection with Škoda’s performance heritage.

More recently, Škoda’s India fleet comprising the Kylaq, Kushaq, Slavia, Kodiaq and limited-volume Octavia RS secured an India and Asia Book of Records entry for “The Fastest Multi-Car Relay of a Single Manufacturer on a Circuit”.

The five cars recorded a combined lap time, including driver changeovers, of 12:30.97 at the CoASTT track in Coimbatore. The record was subsequently used for the company’s “Greatest On A Track is a Škoda On A Track” campaign.

With the Kylaq Sportline, however, the more immediate objective is less about chasing lap records and more about expanding choice in a highly competitive SUV market. By combining the Kylaq’s existing mechanical and safety package with a more distinctive appearance, Škoda is giving buyers another reason to look beyond equipment lists — even if, in this case, quite a lot of that reason happens to be painted black.
