Mumbai: Volkswagen India has launched the Tayron Life, a locally assembled premium five-seat SUV priced at ₹41.99 lakh, ex-showroom. The new model combines a 204 PS turbo-petrol engine, all-wheel drive, Level 2 advanced driver-assistance systems and a particularly generous 885-litre boot.
The Tayron Life is Volkswagen’s third product action in India this year and the second locally assembled model introduced by the company during the period. It is aimed at buyers seeking the space and road presence of a large premium SUV without requiring a third row of seats.
At 4,792 mm long and with a 2,789 mm wheelbase, the Tayron Life offers seating for five passengers. Its luggage compartment can accommodate 885 litres with the rear seats in place and expands to 2,090 litres when additional cargo space is required — enough room to make light work of family holidays and, perhaps, the luggage that somehow multiplies during them.

Engine, Gearbox and All-Wheel Drive
The Tayron Life is powered by a 2.0-litre TSI EVO petrol engine producing 204 PS and 320 Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission and Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive system.
Drivers can choose from six driving profiles: Eco, Comfort, Sport, Individual, Offroad and Snow.
The SUV uses an independent suspension arrangement, with McPherson struts and coil springs at the front and a multi-link suspension at the rear.
Level 2 ADAS and Nine Airbags
Volkswagen has equipped the Tayron Life with Level 2 advanced driver-assistance systems comprising 14 individual functions.
The safety package includes nine airbags, covering the driver and front passenger, front and rear side protection, curtain airbags and a centre airbag.
Other equipment includes electronic stability control, hill-start assist, hill-descent control, an electronic differential lock, front and rear disc brakes, tyre-pressure monitoring and a multifunction camera for distance control.
The SUV also receives ISOFIX child-seat mounting points on the outer rear seats and the front passenger seat, an auto-dimming interior rear-view mirror, three-point seatbelts for all passengers and anti-pinch power windows.
Lighting-related safety features include high-beam control, dynamic cornering lights, automatic headlamp-range adjustment, poor-weather lighting and automatic headlight control.
Large Screens and Connected Features
Inside, the Tayron Life features a 26.03 cm digital instrument cluster and a 32.77 cm Discover infotainment display.
The system supports wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. An eight-speaker audio system, four USB ports and a wireless charging pad capable of charging two mobile phones are also included.
The leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel gets paddle shifters, while the rear-view camera displays dynamic guidelines to assist with parking.
Other convenience features include powered, heated and folding exterior mirrors with memory, projection lighting and puddle lamps.
Heated, Ventilated and Massaging Front Seats
The front occupants receive electrically adjustable ergoActive seats with 12-way adjustment, lumbar support and extendable thigh support.
Both front seats are heated and ventilated and offer a massage function with eight programmes. The passenger seat can also be adjusted through the infotainment system using the Driver Seat Control function.
The cabin is equipped with three-zone automatic climate control, rear air-conditioning vents with separate temperature settings and rear-door sun blinds.
The second-row seats can slide and recline in two stages, allowing owners to prioritise either passenger comfort or luggage capacity.
Additional equipment includes a panoramic sunroof, keyless entry and start, rain-sensing wipers, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold and a powered tailgate with gesture-based opening.
Volkswagen has also equipped the SUV with its IDA digital voice assistant.
Illuminated Exterior Details
The Tayron Life follows Volkswagen’s current design language and features LED Plus headlamps connected by an illuminated strip across the front.
The radiator grille incorporates an illuminated Volkswagen emblem, while the rear receives three-dimensional LED combination lamps, a continuous light signature and another illuminated Volkswagen badge.
Exterior highlights include black roof rails, body-coloured door cladding, illuminated door-handle recesses and 18-inch Bologna alloy wheels with a black diamond-turned finish.
The front bumper is finished in the body colour and receives a silver-coloured lower trim element.
Seven Exterior Colours
Volkswagen will offer the Tayron Life in seven exterior finishes:
- Dolphin Grey Metallic
- Cipressino Green Metallic
- Oyster Silver Metallic
- Nightshade Blue Metallic
- Ultraviolet Metallic
- Oryx White Mother-of-Pearl Effect

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Nitin Kohli, Brand Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, said, “The Tayron Life reflects our commitment to introduce global products that resonate with Indian customers. In line with our plans, we are introducing the 3rd product action forthis year, with Tayron Life that is locally assembled. With its spacious layout, premium comfort, advanced technology including Level 2 ADAS and signature German engineering. It strengthens our premium SUV portfolio while delivering a compelling proposition centred around performance, space, comfort and driving confidence.”
With its five-seat configuration, expansive luggage compartment and lengthy equipment list, the Tayron Life occupies a distinctive position in Volkswagen India’s portfolio. Its arrival also reflects a broader shift in the premium SUV market, where space, technology and comfort are increasingly expected to coexist with genuine all-weather capability rather than merely looking adventurous in the showroom.
