Maruti Suzuki Drives Global Charge: FY26 Exports Hit Record 4.47 Lakh Units with 34% Surge

New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India Limited has accelerated past yet another milestone, clocking its highest-ever exports of over 4.47 lakh vehicles in FY 2025-26. This marks a robust 34% growth over the previous financial year—proof that India’s largest carmaker isn’t just ruling domestic roads, but also making serious waves globally.

With this performance, Maruti Suzuki is set to retain its crown as India’s No.1 passenger vehicle exporter for the fifth consecutive year. In simpler terms: while your neighbor is still deciding between petrol or CNG, Maruti has already shipped your favorite hatchback halfway across the globe.

EV Enters the Export Party

FY26 wasn’t just about numbers—it was also about a quiet (and clean) revolution. The company began exports of its first Battery Electric Vehicle, the e VITARA, signaling its global EV ambitions. Manufactured at the Hansalpur facility in Gujarat—now a dedicated global EV hub—the e VITARA has already been shipped to 44 countries, with over 25,000 units exported since August 2025.

The rollout, flagged off by Narendra Modi, reflects India’s growing role in the global EV supply chain. And yes, your next Uber abroad might just be silently powered by a Made-in-India Maruti.

A Truly Global Garage

Maruti Suzuki’s export portfolio now spans 18 models, covering everything from compact hatchbacks to SUVs and light commercial vehicles. Popular exports like the FRONX, Jimny, Swift, Baleno, and Dzire continue to drive volumes across Africa, Latin America, Japan, and the Middle East.

The addition of electrified powertrains further strengthens the company’s ability to cater to diverse global markets—from fuel-conscious economies to EV-forward nations.

Leadership Speaks

Commenting on the achievement, Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, highlighted the strategic importance of exports in today’s uncertain global trade environment.

He noted that the company’s consistent export push aligns with national priorities, contributing to India’s economic resilience. With shipments to over 100 countries, Maruti Suzuki’s wide geographical footprint also helps balance market risks—essentially not putting all its eggs in one (fuel-efficient) basket.

Driving ‘Make in India’ to the World

Maruti Suzuki currently contributes to nearly 48% of India’s passenger vehicle exports, reinforcing its dominance in the segment. The company’s export strategy is closely aligned with the government’s vision of “Make in India, Make for the World.”

And if this trajectory continues, don’t be surprised if spotting a Maruti abroad becomes as common as spotting one in your own parking lot—just with a different number plate and maybe, a different accent.
