A Golden Tribute: Rolls-Royce Unveils Bespoke Phantom Goldfinger for Iconic Bond Film’s 60th Anniversary

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has revealed a one-of-a-kind Phantom Extended, designed to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the legendary James Bond film, Goldfinger. This meticulously crafted “Phantom Goldfinger” is more than just a car; it’s a cinematic homage, replete with details that echo Auric Goldfinger’s luxurious 1937 Phantom III, seen on screen in 1964. This bespoke vehicle is one of the most intricately designed creations in Rolls-Royce’s history, with hand-crafted, gold-laden accents and film-inspired details.

The Phantom Goldfinger includes elements that reflect memorable scenes from the Bond classic. A solid 18-carat gold “Speedform” bar gleams from within the center console, while a stunning three-dimensional steel-and-gold Gallery portrays a detailed isoline map of Switzerland’s Furka Pass, famously featured in Goldfinger. Additionally, the Starlight Headliner in this unique Phantom mirrors the exact constellation above the Furka Pass during filming in 1964, with over 700 gold-hued stars and eight “shooting stars” meticulously placed by hand.

In a nod to Bond’s first meeting with Goldfinger, a golf club covered in gold is mounted within the trunk lid, recalling the villain’s golden putter. Red, blue, green, and yellow “harlequin” umbrellas and a projector casting the iconic “007” logo into the luggage compartment add whimsical touches, enhancing the car’s immersive Bond experience.

Painted in a custom yellow and black design that mirrors the classic Goldfinger Phantom, the exterior combines modern elegance with vintage homage, right down to black 21-inch wheels with silver hubcaps. A gold-plated Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament, partially concealed under silver to hint at hidden gold, further cements this Phantom as a masterpiece of subtle storytelling.

Inside, Navy leather seats and Royal Walnut wood trim provide a refined backdrop for gold accents. The headrests sport gold RR monograms, while hidden gold details and a fictional Fort Knox map etched onto the picnic tables evoke Goldfinger’s plot. The car’s treadplates are gold-plated and engraved with the iconic typeface from the 1964 film, a testament to Rolls-Royce’s attention to detail.

As a final touch, this exclusive Phantom bears the original British “AU 1” number plate from Goldfinger, a subtle nod to the periodic symbol for gold. Delivered to a discerning Rolls-Royce collector in the UK, this Phantom Goldfinger is a golden relic, adding a new chapter to Bond’s legacy and showcasing Rolls-Royce’s bespoke craftsmanship at its zenith.

Nick Rhodes, Bespoke Designer at Rolls-Royce, shared, “Creating Phantom Goldfinger was a journey of imagination and innovation, weaving Bond’s world into this one-of-a-kind car. This collector’s piece is a tribute to Rolls-Royce’s unparalleled bespoke artistry, blending elegance, history, and whimsy.”
