Hennessey Venom F5 Shatters Half-Mile Speed Record, Surpasses 352 kph

Texas Hypercar Manufacturer Sets New Benchmark in Standing Half-Mile with Unprecedented Speeds

Sealy, Texas (July 30, 2024) – In an astounding demonstration of power and performance, John Hennessey, Founder and CEO of Hennessey Special Vehicles, has propelled the Venom F5 Coupe to a jaw-dropping speed of 219.07 mph (352.5 kph) in a standing half-mile. This remarkable feat, verified by Racelogic VBOX satellite telemetry and Dragy performance data, was achieved during a routine engineering session. Hennessey test driver David Donohue further cemented the F5’s prowess by hitting an impressive 221.92 mph (357 kph), potentially setting a world record for the distance.

This achievement underscores the Venom F5’s moniker as the “decathlete of hypercars,” boasting elite-level performance across various driving conditions. The Venom F5’s acceleration from 100 to 200 mph in just 6.81 seconds highlights its extraordinary capability. Notably, these speeds were not initially targeted; they were discovered upon reviewing performance data after the test runs.

Reflecting on the experience, John Hennessey stated, “This was my first opportunity to pilot our Venom F5 beyond 200 mph during testing. The hypercar’s power and acceleration are indescribable. David Donohue’s run may even be a world record for the half-mile. We plan to return to NASA later this year when cooler temperatures could allow the F5 to perform even better.”

The Venom F5’s recent accomplishment follows closely on the heels of a drag race between a Rimac Nevera and Bugatti Chiron Super Sport, organized by YouTube creator Steve Hamilton. The Venom F5 outpaced both competitors, surpassing the Nevera’s 206.77 mph and the Chiron’s 193.67 mph by significant margins in the standing half-mile.

Achieving such speeds on a dusty, unprepped surface, and in 80 to 90-degree Fahrenheit temperatures, showcases the car’s remarkable engineering. The Venom F5 Coupe, powered by a 6.6L twin-turbo V8 engine known as “Fury,” delivers 1,817 bhp on E85 biofuel and uses street-legal Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires.

Since its market debut in 2021, the Venom F5 has aimed to provide its customers with unparalleled performance on the road, in high-speed straight-line runs, and on the racetrack. Earlier this year, a Revolution coupe version of the F5 set a new production car lap record of 2:10.90 at the Circuit of The Americas. The company is now focusing on breaking the 300 mph barrier, building on the 271.6 mph achieved during development.

With the fastest production car lap record at the Circuit of the Americas and now the fastest half-mile speed, Hennessey is pushing the boundaries of hypercar performance. The company has delivered 23 Venom F5 models, including Coupes, Roadsters, and Revolution variants, with 17 more orders filling slots through 2024 and 2025.

While the Coupe and Revolution Roadster models are sold out, interested buyers can still apply for the Venom F5 Roadster and Revolution coupe at HennesseySpecialVehicles.com.
