Maruti Suzuki’s Manesar Milestone: New Assembly Line Elevates Production to 900,000 Vehicles Annually

In a significant boost to its manufacturing prowess and a nod to the ‘Make in India’ initiative, Maruti Suzuki India Limited has unveiled a new vehicle assembly line at its Manesar plant, situated on the outskirts of New Delhi. This latest development, announced on April 09, 2024, escalates the plant’s annual production capacity by an additional 100,000 units, setting the total manufacturing capability at a staggering 900,000 vehicles per year.

The Manesar plant, a cornerstone in Maruti Suzuki’s extensive production network, has been instrumental in reaching the marque’s 3 Crore production milestone, contributing over 95 lakh units. It is renowned for producing some of Maruti Suzuki’s best-selling models, including the Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, Wagon R, Dzire, S-Presso, Ciaz, and Celerio.

Hisashi Takeuchi, the Managing Director & CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, highlighted the company’s dedication to the Indian Government’s ‘Make in India’ vision. He expressed aspirations to nearly double the company’s production capacity to 4 million vehicles per annum over the next 7-8 years. This ambitious plan aims to augment the firm’s annual production capacity to 23.5 lakh units, with the newly commissioned assembly line marking a crucial step towards achieving this goal.

The new assembly line, integrated into Plant-A—the first of the three manufacturing plants at the Manesar site—features advanced technologies designed to improve human ergonomics, boost productivity, and enhance product traceability.

Since its inauguration in February 2007, the Manesar facility has seen progressive expansions to accommodate rising customer demand, with the additions of Plant-B in 2011 and Plant-C in 2013. This latest expansion underscores Maruti Suzuki’s commitment to innovation, efficiency, and the rapid fulfillment of consumer demand, reinforcing its position as a leader in India’s automotive sector.
