India Unlocks Aerospace Ambitions with Airbus A220 Door Manufacturing

In a groundbreaking move that marries innovation with ambition, Union Minister of Civil Aviation & Steel, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, proudly announced a major leap in India’s aerospace saga. Airbus, in partnership with Dynamatic Technologies, has decided to manufacture all doors for its single-aisle A220 family aircraft right in the heart of India. This not only elevates the ‘Make-in-India’ initiative to new heights but also paves the way for ‘AatmaNirbhar Bharat’, fostering significant employment growth in the process.

At a high-flying event, Scindia couldn’t contain his enthusiasm, proclaiming, “India is steadily cruising to become a global aerospace manufacturing hub, and entrusting the largest order for aircraft doors to Dynamatic Technologies is a historic milestone in our Prime Minister’s visionary ‘Make in India’ journey.”

The collaboration is set to turbocharge India’s aerospace ambitions, with Airbus already exporting ‘Made in India’ products to the tune of $750 million, and plans to double this in the near future. Scindia lauded Airbus for its substantial investment in India, spanning technology transfer to human resource development, further strengthening Indo-French ties.

In an era where regional connectivity is the runway to economic growth, the A220’s compatibility with India’s UDAN scheme promises to soar, enhancing connectivity and promoting prosperity nationwide. The venture into door manufacturing for the A220 by Dynamatic Technologies not only marks India’s foray into high-tech aerospace manufacturing but also signifies a strategic move towards reducing import dependency and boosting exports.

This partnership is a sequel to Airbus’s ongoing commitment to India’s aerospace sector, having previously awarded door manufacturing contracts for the A320 family to Tata Advanced Systems Ltd. With the government’s pro-business policies fueling the aerospace manufacturing sector, India is set to become a formidable player in the global arena.

The ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ mantra, as championed by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is manifesting into reality with Airbus’s expanding footprint in India. This collaboration is not just about manufacturing doors; it’s opening new gateways for India on the global aerospace stage, promising an exciting journey ahead.
