Gurugram, December 26, 2023 – In a significant boost to relief operations in Cyclone Michaung-hit Tamil Nadu, the Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), the CSR division of Hyundai Motor India Ltd., has pledged an extra INR 2 crore to the Tamil Nadu State Disaster Management Authority. This latest donation is in addition to the INR 3 crore previously provided by HMIF for ongoing relief efforts in the state, ravaged by floods and cyclone damage.

In a gesture of solidarity and support, HMIF trustees Mr. Gopala Krishnan CS, Chief Manufacturing Officer of Hyundai Motor India, Mr. Jong Hoon Lee, Executive Director – Production, and Mr. T. Saravanan, Vice President – Finance, met with Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister, Thiru M K Stalin, to deliver the donation. Mr. Un Soo Kim, MD & CEO of Hyundai Motor India, remarked on the resilience of Tamil Nadu’s people and emphasized HMIF’s commitment to aiding recovery and rebuilding efforts in the state.

Already, HMIF has distributed over 6,000 relief kits in districts like Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, and Chengalpattu. These kits include essentials such as dry rations, tarpaulin, bedsheets, and mats. Moreover, HMIF plans to set up medical camps to offer immediate healthcare and to organize village clean-up initiatives to tackle post-cyclone sanitation challenges. Recognizing the emotional impact of such disasters, HMIF will also provide special counselling services to support the wellbeing of the affected individuals.
