Mumbai: JSW MG Motor India has unveiled the MG Hector Tomahawk, a new electrified SUV that will be offered in both battery-electric and plug-in hybrid forms. The EV starts at an introductory Battery-as-a-Service price of ₹13.99 lakh plus ₹4.90 per km battery rental, while the PHEV starts at ₹21.79 lakh plus ₹3.20 per km under the same ownership model.
The Hector Tomahawk is the first SUV based on ADAPT — Advanced Drive Architecture Platform Technology, which MG describes as India’s first Multi-New Energy Vehicle platform.
For customers preferring conventional full-vehicle ownership rather than battery rental, the Hector Tomahawk EV carries an introductory ex-showroom starting price of ₹19.49 lakh, while the PHEV starts at ₹25.69 lakh. The introductory prices are available for a limited number of bookings.
Bookings for both versions are now open at MG dealerships across India and through the company’s website. Deliveries of the Hector Tomahawk EV will begin in September 2026, while PHEV test drives and deliveries will start in November 2026.
EV Claims 517 Km Range; PHEV Crosses 1,100 Km Combined
The all-electric Hector Tomahawk uses a 69.2 kWh MAGIC Battery paired with a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor producing 150 kW and 310 Nm.
MG claims a certified driving range of 517 km on a single charge. The SUV supports DC fast charging at up to 90 kW.
The Hector Tomahawk PHEV, meanwhile, combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine, Dedicated Hybrid Transmission and a 20.5 kWh battery pack.
It offers more than 115 km of pure-electric driving range, according to the company, while the complete petrol-electric system has been engineered to deliver a combined driving range of more than 1,100 km with a full tank and fully charged battery.
Its electric motor produces 148 kW, with MG claiming a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of approximately nine seconds.
That combination is aimed squarely at buyers who like the quiet commute of an EV but are not yet ready to make charging stations an important part of every road-trip itinerary.
MG says the Hector Tomahawk is India’s first PHEV in its segment.

Four Driving Strategies for PHEV
MG’s Dedicated Hybrid Transmission works with an Intelligent Energy Management System that can automatically choose between four operating strategies depending on driving conditions.
These include Pure Electric Drive, where the vehicle runs on battery power; Series Hybrid Drive, in which the engine generates electricity while the motor drives the wheels; Parallel Hybrid Drive, with the engine and motor operating together; and Engine Direct Drive, intended primarily for efficient highway cruising.
The company says the Motor Control Unit can achieve a maximum efficiency of 99.1%, while the DHT’s electromagnetic clutch has a response time of 0.1 second for transitions between operating modes.

Vehicle-to-Home Capability Turns SUV Into Power Source
Among the Hector Tomahawk’s more unusual technology features is Vehicle-to-Home, or V2H, capability.
MG says the system allows electricity stored in the vehicle’s battery to be used for powering appliances, outdoor equipment and even a home. The company describes it as India’s first such application.
The feature extends the battery’s role beyond simply moving the SUV, effectively turning the vehicle into a mobile energy source when required.
Hector Tomahawk Dimensions and Design
The Hector Tomahawk measures 4,745 mm long, 1,850 mm wide and 1,770 mm tall, with overall width rising to 2,130 mm including the mirrors.
Its wheelbase measures 2,810 mm, while ground clearance at the battery is 230 mm. MG says the dimensions make it the tallest and among the longest vehicles in its segment.
Exterior features include sculpted bumpers, Beacon Lights, an illuminated MG badge, Rotor alloy wheels and an automatic powered tailgate.
The EV will be offered in both five- and seven-seat configurations, while the PHEV will be sold exclusively as a seven-seater.
15.6-Inch Display Dominates the Cabin
Inside, the Hector Tomahawk receives what MG calls its Desert Squadron Interior, combining Almond Brown and Carbon Black finishes.
The cabin gets leatherette upholstery, leatherette dashboard and door inserts and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Front occupants receive ventilated seats, with a six-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat and four-way powered front passenger seat. The driver’s seat also includes memory and an auto-retract function intended to make entry and exit easier.
A dual-pane panoramic Cockpit SkyRoof sits above the cabin.
The centrepiece is a 15.6-inch HD Grand View Display, claimed to be the largest in the segment, accompanied by an 8.8-inch Multi Information Display.
A 10-speaker Infinity audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rear-window sunshades, PM2.5 cabin filtration and configurable 256-colour ambient lighting are also offered.
In five-seat form, MG claims luggage capacity of up to 610 litres with all seats in use.
The seven-seat model gets a 60:40 split second row with recline and slide adjustment along with a tip-and-tumble mechanism for third-row access.
GenAI Voice Assistant Understands Hinglish Commands
The Hector Tomahawk runs MG’s i-SMART 3.0 connected-car suite with more than 80 connected features.
It introduces an AI-based voice assistant capable of handling more than 30 Hinglish commands, which the company describes as India’s first GenAI-powered automotive voice assistant.
It also features i-SWIPE controls using two-, three- and five-finger gestures.
Other digital features include a Bluetooth-based digital key with key sharing, over-the-air software updates and six preset experience modes — Nap Mode, Pro Pet Mode, Camp Mode, Quiet Mode, Energise Mode and Smoking Mode.
The entertainment suite includes the Starmaanch Karaoke app, offering more than 8,000 tracks spanning Bollywood, English, regional and children’s music.
MG’s app store also incorporates more than 18 Jio-powered services covering entertainment, shopping, social media, quick commerce, food services and gaming.
JioSaavn integration and ETV Bharat regional news content are also available.
Six Airbags Standard, Level 2 ADAS Offered
The Hector Tomahawk gets six airbags as standard across all variants, along with Electronic Stability Program, traction control, Hill Hold Control, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist and an electric parking brake with Auto Hold.
Tyre-pressure monitoring, ISOFIX child-seat mounts and four-wheel disc brakes are also included.
Driver-assistance technology includes a 360-degree Around View HD camera with Wheel View, along with front and rear parking sensors.
Its Level 2 ADAS suite incorporates Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Departure Prevention, Front Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking.
Pedestrian Automatic Emergency Braking and Intelligent Headlamp Control are also part of the package.
MG Details MAGIC Battery Safety Tests
MG says the EV’s 69.2 kWh MAGIC Battery uses high-thermal-stability cell materials, ceramic insulation layers and a high-temperature-resistant electrolyte.
According to the company, the battery passed a full needle-penetration test without fire, a 180-degree thermal shock test, a 55-degree short-circuit test without abnormality, and testing involving up to 40% cell deformation without fire or explosion.
The battery system has undergone more than 2,000 bench tests and over 490 full-vehicle validation tests, MG said, alongside environmental testing covering extreme temperatures, high altitudes and severe cold.
An integrated Battery Management System continuously monitors battery health.
JSW MG Motor India is also offering a lifetime battery warranty to the first owner of both the Hector Tomahawk EV and PHEV.
Warranty, Service and Buyback Programme
Under the company’s MG SHIELD ownership programme, Hector Tomahawk EV customers will receive a 3-3-2 package consisting of a three-year unlimited-kilometre warranty, three years of roadside assistance and two labour-free scheduled services.
PHEV buyers receive a 3-3-3 package, adding three labour-free periodic services alongside the same three-year warranty and roadside-assistance coverage.
Extended warranties, roadside-assistance packages and prepaid maintenance plans will also be available.
Customers will additionally be able to opt for an Assured Buy Back Program.
Eight Colour Choices for Each Powertrain
The Hector Tomahawk EV will be offered in six single-tone finishes — Pearl White, Starry Black, Aurora Silver, Celadon Blue, Shadow Gold and Khaki Green.
Two dual-tone combinations, Shadow Gold with Black and Khaki Green with Black, will also be available.
The PHEV colour palette consists of Pearl White, Starry Black, Aurora Silver, Celadon Blue, Turquoise Green and Shadow Gold, together with Turquoise Green with White and Celadon Blue with White dual-tone versions.
With the Hector Tomahawk, JSW MG Motor India is effectively taking a two-track approach to electrification: a fully electric model for customers prepared to rely predominantly on charging, and a plug-in hybrid for those seeking substantial electric-only capability without giving up the long-distance flexibility of a petrol engine.
More importantly, the launch puts technologies such as PHEVs, V2H power supply and battery-subscription pricing into a mainstream family-SUV package. How buyers respond will offer an indication of whether India’s next phase of electrification will be dominated purely by battery EVs — or by a broader mix of powertrains designed to make the transition a little less abrupt.
