Chennai: Tesla India has expanded its presence in South India with the opening of its first Tesla Experience Center in Chennai at Express Avenue Mall, giving customers in the city and across Tamil Nadu local access to vehicle consultations, test drives, orders and deliveries.
The electric vehicle maker has also introduced Tesla-approved collision repair and service capabilities in Poonamallee, extending after-sales support for Tesla owners in the region.
According to the company, the new service infrastructure will provide access to genuine Tesla parts, trained technicians, software-aware diagnostics and collision repairs carried out using Tesla-approved processes.
The Chennai Experience Center, located on Pattullos Road at Express Avenue Mall, will offer prospective customers vehicle consultations, test drives and delivery support.
Meanwhile, the Tesla-Approved Collision Center in Poonamallee will handle professional body and collision repairs. Tesla said the facility is intended to help owners maintain vehicle safety, performance and resale value while reducing repair-related downtime.
The expansion marks another step in Tesla’s efforts to build a retail and after-sales network in India, where service accessibility can be almost as important to buyers as range figures and acceleration times — particularly once the new-car smell has worn off.
Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive priced at ₹50.89 lakh
Tesla is offering the 2026 Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive in India at ₹50,89,000.
The SUV provides up to 2,138 litres of storage space and seating for as many as five passengers, along with power-folding seats.
Tesla says the Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and offers a range of up to 500 km under the WLTP testing cycle.
The vehicle is being offered with a down payment of ₹6,00,000, while monthly EMI plans start from ₹39,990, according to the company.
Model Y L offers six seats and up to 681 km WLTP range
Customers visiting the Chennai center can also experience the Model Y L, an all-wheel-drive SUV with a three-row, six-seat configuration.
Tesla says the Model Y L has been designed to provide increased headroom, legroom and passenger comfort while offering cargo capacity of up to 2,539 litres.
The company claims a WLTP range of up to 681 km, while the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds.
Prices for the Model Y L start at ₹61,99,000. Tesla is offering the vehicle with a down payment of ₹6,50,000 and monthly EMIs starting from ₹49,990.
OTA updates and Grok support Indian languages
Both models support Tesla’s over-the-air, or OTA, software updates, allowing the company to introduce software improvements and new features remotely.
The vehicles also provide access to Grok, the AI assistant, with support for several Indian languages including Tamil, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Telugu and Kannada.
