Vadodara: Greenply Industries Limited has partnered with GreenLine Mobility Solutions Ltd to integrate LNG-powered trucks into its outbound logistics operations, as the wood panel manufacturer looks to extend its sustainability efforts beyond the factory floor and into the movement of its products.
The partnership was formally marked by the flag-off of GreenLine’s LNG-powered trucks at Greenply’s Vadodara manufacturing facility. Under the initiative, Greenply will use GreenLine’s green logistics network to transport products from the Vadodara plant to destinations across its distribution network.
The move places logistics — often the less glamorous but highly consequential part of industrial sustainability — closer to the centre of Greenply’s environmental strategy. While manufacturing facilities typically receive most of the attention in corporate sustainability plans, freight movement is increasingly becoming an important area for companies seeking to reduce emissions across their value chains.
Greenply said the initiative introduces an alternative-fuel option into its logistics operations, combining cost efficiency with sustainability considerations. LNG-powered vehicles can offer a lower-emission alternative to conventional diesel-based trucks, depending on vehicle configuration, fuel quality and operating conditions.
According to GreenLine, its LNG-powered trucks can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 40%, SOx by up to 100%, NOx by up to 59%, particulate matter by up to 91% and CO by up to 70%. The company positions the fleet as a lower-emission option for India’s long-haul freight sector, where diesel has long been the default workhorse — and not exactly a quiet one at that.
For Greenply, the adoption of LNG-powered trucks forms part of a broader attempt to embed responsible practices across its value chain. The company said it will use the initiative to assess the operational feasibility of alternative-fuel transportation within its dispatch network.

GreenLine is working to accelerate the transition to lower-emission road freight in India through a fleet of LNG- and electric-powered heavy commercial trucks. The company operates more than 1,000 vehicles across major freight corridors and serves sectors including steel, cement, mining, FMCG and chemicals.
Its fleet has collectively travelled more than 100 million kilometres and helped customers reduce over 27,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions, according to the company.
Greenply said it will continue to evaluate opportunities to incorporate more responsible mobility solutions across its logistics ecosystem, depending on operational requirements and learnings from the initiative.
As Indian businesses face growing pressure to examine emissions beyond their own premises, Greenply’s partnership with GreenLine underlines a wider shift in corporate sustainability: the road to greener operations no longer ends at the factory gate. Increasingly, it has to travel by truck too.
