Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Wins Top Automobile Exporter Award for FY 2025-26

Pune: Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited has been named the ‘Automobile: Top Exporter’ for FY 2025-26 by the Mumbai Port Authority, after exporting more than 40,000 vehicles through Mumbai Port during the financial year.

The recognition was presented at the Mumbai Port Authority’s Business Conclave with Partners, highlighting the company’s export performance and its role in supporting India’s position as a global automotive manufacturing and export hub.

The award was received on behalf of SAVWIPL by Amit Madan, Vice President – Logistics Region India. It was presented by Dr. M. Angamuthu, Chairperson, Mumbai Port Authority (IAS), along with Shri Adesh Titarmare, Deputy Chairperson, Mumbai Port Authority (IAS).

For SAVWIPL, Mumbai Port remains a key gateway for exports, helping the company ship vehicles from India to several international markets. In a business where timing, logistics and paperwork often travel together like an inseparable convoy, port efficiency remains central to the company’s export strategy.

The latest honour follows SAVWIPL’s earlier recognition as ‘Top Exporter 2023-2024’ by the Mumbai Port Authority, underlining a continuing export growth trend for vehicles engineered and manufactured in India.

Over the years, SAVWIPL has exported more than 725,000 made-in-India vehicles to markets across Asia, Africa, the Middle East and North America. The company said the export momentum supports its broader “Make in India, for India and the World” approach, which aims to position India as a major production and supply base for the Volkswagen Group.

Commenting on the achievement, Piyush Arora, Managing Director & CEO, Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited, said, “Being recognised once again by the Mumbai Port Authority is a proud moment for all of us at SAVWIPL. This award is a validation of our strong export momentum and our teams’ relentless focus on quality, reliability, and operational excellence across the value chain. Our manufacturing ecosystem in India has matured into a truly global export base for the Group, and we remain committed to further strengthening India’s role in our worldwide production and supply footprint.”

SAVWIPL currently exports Fully Built Units of models including the Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus, and the Škoda Kushaq and Slavia. The company is also expanding its export portfolio to include parts and components, which support local assembly operations in select overseas markets.

The company said it will continue to explore new export opportunities based on customer demand, regulatory requirements and its long-term regional growth strategy. Its recent entry into the Sri Lankan market is part of that wider expansion plan.

The recognition comes at a time when automakers are increasingly using India not only as a domestic production base, but also as a launchpad for emerging markets. For SAVWIPL, the Mumbai Port award reinforces a central point in its global strategy: India is no longer just where cars are made for local roads, but also where they begin journeys to the world.
