Bengaluru-based TVS Motor Company has decided that the future of mobility may need more than horsepower and torque figures — perhaps a little artificial intelligence too. The company has announced the induction of technology entrepreneur Ravindran Shanmugam as an Independent Director for a period of five consecutive years effective May 13, 2026, subject to shareholder approval.
The appointment signals TVS Motor’s increasing focus on digital transformation, AI-led innovation, and future-ready mobility ecosystems as the automotive industry rapidly evolves from “How fast does it go?” to “How smart is it?”
Mr. Ravindran Shanmugam is currently the Co-founder and Executive Chairman of Mablle, a Singapore-based AI-enabled interior design and renovation platform. While he may not be redesigning motorcycles with mood lighting and Italian marble seats just yet, his expertise in technology-led consumer businesses is expected to add a strong digital edge to the TVS boardroom.
An alumnus of the University of Oxford and a former management consultant at McKinsey & Company, Shanmugam has worked extensively on growth strategy, platform businesses, and scaling enterprises across global markets.
TVS Motor said his appointment would further strengthen the company’s corporate governance standards while adding valuable experience in innovation and technology-driven business transformation.
Speaking on the development, Sudarshan Venu, Chairman of TVS Motor Company, said Ravindran Shanmugam brings deep expertise in digital and consumer-focused businesses along with AI-led transformation capabilities and entrepreneurial experience across global markets. He added that his perspectives would help deepen the board’s strategic vision as TVS continues to strengthen its future-ready growth ambitions.
Ravindran Shanmugam said he was honoured to join the board of a company known for engineering excellence, customer trust, and global ambition. He noted that mobility is being reshaped by technology, digital ecosystems, artificial intelligence, and evolving consumer expectations, adding that TVS Motor is well positioned to play a meaningful role in this transformation.
The move comes at a time when automotive companies worldwide are increasingly blending traditional manufacturing with software, connected technologies, and AI-powered customer experiences. In simple terms, the modern boardroom now needs people who understand both engines and algorithms.
For TVS Motor, the message appears clear: the company is not just preparing for the next motorcycle launch, but also for the next era of mobility itself.
