From Petrol Pumps to Power Hubs: Mahindra Charge_iN and HPCL Accelerate India’s EV Charging Revolution

Mumbai: In a move that signals India’s fuel stations are ready for a silent revolution (and fewer “bhaiya full tank” moments), Charge_iN by Mahindra has joined hands with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to roll out electric vehicle charging infrastructure across HPCL retail outlets nationwide.

The strategic partnership aims to transform traditional fuel pumps into multi-energy hubs, where electrons will soon flow as freely as petrol and diesel. By leveraging HPCL’s expansive network of over 24,400 retail outlets, Charge_iN plans to accelerate the deployment of EV charging stations, making range anxiety a thing of the past—hopefully as outdated as asking for directions without Google Maps.

HPCL already operates more than 5,400 EV charging stations under its HP e-Charge brand, and this collaboration is set to supercharge that ecosystem further. The agreement comes at a crucial time as India shifts gears toward greener mobility, with infrastructure often being the biggest speed breaker in the EV journey.

Under this partnership, the charging stations will feature high-speed 180 kW dual-gun chargers, designed to juice up electric four-wheelers quickly and efficiently. In practical terms, that means your EV could gain meaningful range while you grab a chai and check your Instagram—no long pit stops required.

Charge_iN by Mahindra, a key pillar of Mahindra’s “UNLIMIT electric” vision, is focused on building an ultra-fast charging network that aligns with the government’s push for robust public EV infrastructure. With HPCL’s widespread presence acting as the backbone, the collaboration promises not just convenience, but also confidence for prospective EV buyers.

As India cements its position as the world’s third-largest automotive market, such partnerships are expected to play a decisive role in shaping a cleaner, more sustainable future. Because in the coming years, the question at fuel stations might quietly evolve from “petrol or diesel?” to “fast charge or ultra-fast?”
