New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India Limited has announced that its upcoming New Brezza has received a 5-star safety rating under the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (Bharat NCAP) for both Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and Child Occupant Protection (COP). The compact SUV is scheduled to be launched in India on July 24, 2026, making safety one of its headline credentials even before it reaches showrooms.
The certification marks Maruti Suzuki’s fifth consecutive vehicle to receive a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, expanding a portfolio that already includes the Dzire, Victoris, Invicto and e Vitara. For a company once criticised for lagging on safety, the growing collection of five-star ratings signals a notable shift in direction—without making a loud fuss about it.
The New Brezza will feature an expanded suite of active and passive safety technologies. Among the highlights are six airbags as standard across all variants, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with Hill Hold Assist, Blind Spot Warning with Lane Change Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Front Parking Sensors, Emergency Stop Signal, Safe Exit Warning, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), 360 View Camera, ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), ISOFIX child seat anchorages, reverse parking sensors, rear parking camera, and a rear defogger and wiper.
Maruti Suzuki said the SUV also incorporates a robust body structure with extensive use of ultra-high-tensile and high-tensile-strength steel, aimed at improving occupant protection in the event of a collision.

According to the company, standardising six airbags across 16 models and 160 variants has enabled more than 1.6 million customers in FY 2025-26 to benefit from enhanced occupant protection. Maruti Suzuki says this represents the highest industry volume for vehicles equipped with six airbags as standard.
The New Brezza will be sold under the company’s ARENA retail network and aims to strengthen its position in India’s highly competitive compact SUV segment. Since its debut in 2016, the Brezza has consistently ranked among the country’s best-selling SUVs, and the latest generation enters the market with a stronger emphasis on safety technology alongside its established appeal.
With Bharat NCAP increasingly becoming an important benchmark for Indian car buyers, the New Brezza’s five-star certification is likely to feature prominently in purchasing decisions. As consumer awareness around vehicle safety continues to grow, manufacturers are finding that crash-test stars are becoming almost as valuable as horsepower figures—and in many cases, considerably more reassuring.
