Hyderabad: Vietnam’s powerhouse conglomerate Vingroup has officially shaken hands with the Government of Telangana, signing a USD 3 billion MoU at the Telangana Rising Global Summit — and no, this isn’t your average corporate handshake. Think of it as the beginning of a multi-sector symphony spanning smart cities, EVs, solar power, world-class schools, futuristic hospitals, and even a wildlife safari… all in one state.
If the MoU were a movie trailer, this one would read: “Coming Soon — Smart Cities, Electric Taxis, Green Energy, and Maybe a Vietnamese Safari in Telangana.”
A Mega Ecosystem for a Mega Vision
Under the agreement, Vingroup and the Telangana government will jointly explore opportunities across nearly 2,500 hectares of land. The collaboration ranges from urban development and electric mobility to healthcare, education, tourism, renewable energy, and charging infrastructure. Telangana gets a powerful push toward its vision of sustainable, world-class urban growth; Vingroup gets a strong launchpad into one of the most dynamic markets in the world. Everyone wins.
Electric Mobility: India’s Largest EV Taxi Fleet Incoming
Vingroup plans to roll out India’s first large-scale electric taxi fleet in Telangana through GSM using VinFast EVs. If all goes well, Hyderabad might soon be the city where you order a taxi and the cab arrives silently, without waking the neighbours or the environment.
The Group has also hinted that future EV manufacturing opportunities may be explored — a tease that will surely interest India’s fast-growing EV ecosystem.
Smart City for 200,000 Residents
The Vinhomes Smart City project — planned over 1,080 hectares — is expected to host 200,000 residents, create 10,000 jobs, and offer a mix of low-rise and high-rise living wrapped in sustainable design guidelines. Think of it as a future-ready township that comes with everything… except traffic jams.
Social Infrastructure: Where Schools, Hospitals, and Chargers Coexist
Vingroup will also develop around 70 hectares of essential services including:
- Vinschool K–12 education campuses
- Vinmec international multi-speciality hospitals
- V-Green charging networks
Telangana’s residents may soon find that their city has become a one-stop shop for learning, healing, and charging.
Tourism & Entertainment: A Safari in Southern India
Through VinWonders, Vingroup plans a 350-hectare integrated tourism hub featuring a theme park, zoo, and safari experience. This could become Telangana’s next big family destination — where kids go to see lions and adults go to see whether the EV chargers are faster than the rollercoasters.
Renewable Energy: 500 MW of Sunshine
Vingroup’s renewable arm VinEnergo proposes a 500 MW solar farm across 500 hectares. Telangana’s sunshine, which has been free all along, will now finally get a job.
What Telangana Leaders Are Saying
Telangana’s leaders didn’t hold back their enthusiasm.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy called the USD 3 billion commitment “a massive vote of confidence in Telangana Rising.” He highlighted the potential for a futuristic, net-zero city and India’s first large-scale EV taxi fleet.
Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu added that Vingroup’s multi-sector focus reflects the stability of Telangana’s industrial policy, positioning the state as an entry gateway for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian investors.
Sanjay Kumar, IAS, said the government looks forward to Vingroup’s proven capability in transforming large-scale projects into real-world success stories.
Vingroup’s Global Ambition Meets India’s Growth Engine
Representing Vingroup, Pham Sanh Chau, CEO of Vingroup Asia and VinFast Asia, said the Group sees tremendous potential in Telangana and aims to build a long-term partnership that promotes sustainable development and elevates quality of life.
For Vietnam’s biggest private conglomerate — recently listed in TIME World’s Best Companies 2025 — this MoU signifies more than investment. It marks a deepening of Vietnam–India economic ties, strategic collaboration, and a sizable expansion of Vingroup’s global footprint.
A Partnership with Promise
Telangana promises accelerated facilitation, land allocation support, administrative streamlining, and policy incentives. Vingroup brings expertise in smart cities, EVs, green energy, and social infrastructure.
Together, they aim to build a future that’s sustainable, connected, and quietly electric — literally.
If this partnership were a city, it would probably run on solar power, drive itself, and still find time to host a safari.
