Škoda Kylaq Triumphs in Bharat NCAP: Redefining Safety Standards in the Sub-4m SUV Segment

Mumbai – The Škoda Kylaq, the newest addition to Škoda Auto India’s lineup, has raised the bar for safety in the sub-4m SUV segment by securing a 5-star safety rating in the Bharat NCAP crash tests. As the first Škoda model to undergo Bharat NCAP testing, the Kylaq reaffirms the brand’s commitment to safety, earning the title of the safest car in its segment.

Continuing Škoda’s legacy of safety excellence established by the Kushaq and Slavia—both of which hold 5-star Global NCAP ratings—the Kylaq achieved an impressive 30.88 points in Adult Occupant Protection (97%) and 45.00 points in Child Occupant Protection (92%).

A Legacy of Safety Excellence

Petr Janeba, Brand Director of Škoda Auto India, highlighted the company’s dedication to safety:

“Safety is intrinsic to the Škoda DNA. Since 2008, every Škoda car has been crash-tested globally with a 5-star safety rating. The Kylaq is a testament to our commitment to democratizing European technology on Indian roads, ensuring safety remains a priority.”

Engineering Brilliance for Indian Roads

The Kylaq, built on the MQB-A0-IN platform, combines advanced engineering with features tailored for Indian driving conditions. Key safety highlights include:

  • Six airbags and over 25 active and passive safety systems standard across all variants.
  • Technologies such as Electronic Stability Control, Roll Over Protection, Hill Hold Control, and Multi-Collision Braking from the base variant.
  • A hot-stamped steel construction and a redesigned crash management system for enhanced cabin protection.

Crash Test Highlights

  1. Adult Occupant Protection
    • Frontal Offset Barrier Test: Scored 15.035 out of 16 points (94%), with the occupant compartment and footwell rated as stable.
    • Side Moving Deformable Barrier Test: Achieved 15.840 out of 16 points (99%).
  2. Child Occupant Protection

Škoda’s Safety Legacy

Škoda’s leadership in automotive safety began with the Kushaq in 2022, the first Indian-made car to achieve a 5-star Global NCAP rating under the revised protocols. The Slavia followed in 2023 with similar accolades. The Kylaq now builds on this legacy, solidifying Škoda’s reputation for setting safety benchmarks in India.

The Safest Choice in the Segment

With unmatched crash-test scores and class-leading safety features, the Škoda Kylaq has redefined the safety standards for sub-4m SUVs in India. It exemplifies Škoda Auto India’s commitment to delivering vehicles that prioritize passenger safety while combining European engineering with Indian sensibilities.
