Sony Pictures’ RIDEVU Brings IMAX Enhanced Films to Mercedes-Benz, Redefining In-Car Entertainment Experience

Las Vegas, NV – Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE), in collaboration with IMAX Corporation, Mercedes-Benz, and DTS, Inc., today unveiled a groundbreaking enhancement to their RIDEVU in-car entertainment service, offering immersive IMAX Enhanced films to Mercedes-Benz vehicles with the latest generation MBUX. This revolutionary service will debut this summer, transforming how drivers and passengers enjoy films on the go.

IMAX Enhanced is a premium format that offers the signature picture and sound of IMAX outside of theaters. This integration will feature Sony Pictures’ extensive library of IMAX Enhanced content, including blockbuster films like Venom: The Last Dance, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Uncharted. Through RIDEVU, users can experience these films with IMAX’s expanded aspect ratio (EAR), IMAX’s proprietary Digital Media Remastering (DMR) process, and DTS:X sound, all in stunning quality while in transit.

“By deepening our collaboration with IMAX, we’re demonstrating our unwavering commitment to providing discerning consumers with immersive experiences that transform every journey,” said Pete Wood, SVP of Digital Sales and Distribution at SPE. “With RIDEVU, we are showcasing what is possible in the car, pushing the boundaries of content and audio delivery.”

The service is set to launch in the US, Japan, UK, Ireland, and Germany, offering access to thousands of films for purchase, rental, or streaming. Notably, Mercedes-Benz models will be the first to offer this elevated experience, featuring RIDEVU’s advanced streaming technology. Passengers can enjoy individual or shared viewing experiences on up to six screens, ensuring that everyone in the car is entertained.

The partnership also brings cutting-edge audio technology into the vehicle, with DTS providing a rich, immersive sound experience. “We are helping bridge the gap between home and vehicle, delivering personalized entertainment where consumers want it,” said Bill Neighbors, Chief Content Officer for Xperi.

Magnus Östberg, Chief Software Officer at Mercedes-Benz, added, “With IMAX Enhanced and DTS audio within RIDEVU, we will add an exciting new dimension to movie-watching in a Mercedes-Benz. Our large-format HD displays ensure that every seat in the car feels like the best seat in the house.”

RIDEVU is poised to redefine the concept of in-car entertainment, combining cutting-edge visuals, sound, and technology to deliver a movie theater experience right in the vehicle.

For those attending CES 2025, the next-generation in-car experience can be experienced firsthand in a Mercedes-Benz E-Class at Xperi’s booth (5840) at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
