Reaffirming Commitment with Significant Investments

Nissan’s renewed focus on the Indian market is underscored by the $1.8 billion investment from the Renault-Nissan Alliance. Over its 15+ years in the country, Nissan has launched 13 models, created 70,000 jobs both directly and indirectly, achieved a milestone of 1.1 million vehicle exports, and reached a cumulative Alliance production of 2.7 million units.

The Arc Nissan Business Plan: A Roadmap to Success

Nissan’s future plans for India, encapsulated in “The Arc Nissan Business Plan,” emphasize a customer-first approach. The company is set to relaunch its Completely Built Unit (CBU) business, introduce new models including 5 and 7-seat SUVs, and an affordable electric vehicle (EV). This strategy aims to bring innovative products with genuine Japanese DNA to Indian consumers. Key components of the plan include:

  • Customer-first led CBU business relaunch: Reinvigorating the market with high-quality, fully assembled vehicles.
  • Introduction of new models: Expanding the product line with versatile and affordable options.
  • Innovative products: Delivering true Japanese innovation and technology.
  • Marketing and after-sales transformation: Enhancing customer experience through a back-to-basics approach.
  • Digitizing the customer journey: Offering more personalized and seamless interactions.
  • Phygital engagement: Combining physical and digital experiences for better customer engagement.

Introducing the X-Trail: Leading the Product Offensive

The Nissan X-Trail marks the beginning of the company’s product offensive in India. This globally recognized model is now available to Indian consumers, showcasing Nissan’s commitment to bringing its best technologies and offerings to the market.

Upcoming Models and Strategic Focus Areas

From FY24 to FY26, Nissan plans to introduce a range of models tailored to various segments:

  • D/E-SUV: X-Trail
  • C-SUV: A new C-SUV and C-SUV+
  • A/B-SUV: Magnite facelift and a new affordable EV

Strategic Pillars for Growth

Nissan’s strategy for India rests on three key pillars:

  1. Relaunching the CBU Business: Reinventing its approach to fully built unit imports.
  2. Elevating Domestic Business: Enhancing its local market operations and offerings.
  3. Growing Exports: Expanding production to meet international demand.

Nissan’s comprehensive plan not only aims to solidify its position in India but also to elevate the country’s role in its global strategy. With these bold steps, Nissan is poised to transform the Indian automotive landscape and drive significant growth in the coming years.
