Jaya Hind Industries Adds ₹400 Crore to Expansion Plan, Total Investment Rises to ₹600 Crore

Pune/Chennai: Jaya Hind Industries Pvt. Ltd. (JHI) has announced plans to invest ₹600 crore over the next two years to expand its aluminium die-casting and machining capabilities across manufacturing locations in Pune and Chennai, as it prepares for growing demand for larger and more complex components.

The planned expenditure includes an additional ₹400 crore investment on top of the ₹200 crore previously announced for expansion of the company’s Chennai facility, taking JHI’s total proposed investment to ₹600 crore.

The investment will be deployed in phases during FY2026–27 and FY2027–28 across JHI’s manufacturing locations at Akurdi and Urse in Pune, as well as Chennai.

A significant part of the programme will involve setting up a new manufacturing facility in Chennai and installing more than 12 High Pressure Die Casting (HPDC) machines with capacities ranging from 1,200 tonnes to 3,500 tonnes.

JHI, which manufactures precision aluminium die-cast components, said the expansion will also significantly increase its precision machining capabilities and strengthen several critical in-house processes.

These include heat treatment, impregnation and powder coating, alongside broader improvements to plant infrastructure.

The company is also adding a dedicated powder-coating facility, aimed at bringing more surface-finishing operations under one roof. According to JHI, the facility will support improved corrosion resistance, product durability and tighter process control — not particularly glamorous factory-floor vocabulary, perhaps, but increasingly important when manufacturers are chasing consistency at scale.

Commenting on the announcement, Prasan Firodia, Managing Director, Jaya Hind Industries, said, “At Jaya Hind Industries, we have always believed in investing ahead of customer requirements. As the demand for larger and more complex aluminium castings continues to grow, we are strengthening our manufacturing capabilities to deliver greater scale, precision and reliability. This investment will enhance our ability to support our customers’ future programmes while continuing to build globally competitive manufacturing capabilities from India, in line with the Government’s ‘Make in India’ vision.”

The expansion spans both High Pressure Die Casting and Gravity Die Casting (GDC), two manufacturing processes used by the company for aluminium components.

By increasing casting capacity while bringing more machining and finishing processes in-house, JHI is seeking to build a more vertically integrated manufacturing operation capable of handling increasingly complex customer programmes.

The investment also highlights the continuing push by Indian component manufacturers to expand domestic production capabilities as customers demand greater scale, precision and localisation.

For Jaya Hind Industries, the ₹600 crore programme represents more than additional machines and floor space. Its effectiveness will ultimately be measured by how well the new capacity translates into higher manufacturing efficiency, consistent quality and the ability to compete for increasingly sophisticated programmes from India and overseas.
