Mercedes-Benz Opens 58,000 Sq Ft Mumbai Service Facility, Introduces India’s First AI Vehicle Scanner

Mumbai: Mercedes-Benz India has introduced what it describes as India’s first AI-powered automated vehicle scanner by a carmaker, launched a new “Service Select” programme for vehicles aged seven years and above, and inaugurated its largest luxury service facility in Mumbai as part of a broader push to improve after-sales convenience and reduce ownership costs.

The AI-powered Xentry Vehicle Scanner has been deployed at the newly inaugurated Landmark Cars service facility in Jogeshwari, Mumbai. The system creates a 360-degree digital record of a vehicle as it enters the workshop, using high-resolution imaging and artificial intelligence to identify exterior damage and assess tyre condition.

Mercedes-Benz said the scanner is designed to shorten inspection times, improve transparency during service reception and reduce paperwork. Similar vehicle-scanning technology is already operational in international markets including Germany, Italy, Korea, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Turkey.

The company is also introducing “Service Select”, aimed at Mercedes-Benz vehicles that are seven years old or more. The programme offers savings of up to 25% on select parts, benefits under Mobilio Lite, a two-year warranty on parts and expert care intended to help preserve the vehicle’s residual value.

Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, said:

“We aspire to be the ‘Mercedes of Service’ by questioning the status quo, challenging the existing servicing norms and steadily integrating AI and latest technology in creating customer convenience. WE are continuously enhancing service efficiency and adding incremental customer value at every touch point, by optimizing overall cost of ownership for our discerning customers. Introduction of India’s first AI driven, automated vehicle scanner marks an important step in the deployment of AI and automation for driving transparency, trust and efficiency, resulting in desirable customer ownership experience for Mercedes-Benz. While offerings like ‘Service Select’ optimizes TCO for existing customers, inaugurating Mumbai’s largest luxury service facility underlines our deep commitment for customers, who will be immensely benefitted from Mercedes-Benz’s service innovations and differentiation.”

AI Scanner Digitises Vehicle Inspection

Mercedes-Benz said the vehicle-inspection process begins as soon as a customer drives through the scanner. A 360-degree high-resolution camera system records the exterior condition of the car and transfers the data to the Mercedes-Benz cloud.

The images are automatically anonymised, after which the AI system detects external damage and measures tyre tread depth. The resulting information is linked directly with the workshop order and service reception report, reducing the requirement for manual data entry.

Service advisers receive the information on a tablet, including details of visible marks on the body and tyre condition. Customers can review the vehicle assessment, discuss repairs or service requirements and approve the work during the consultation.

The company said the digital record also provides a common reference for the vehicle’s condition when it is returned to the customer, helping avoid the sometimes awkward post-service ritual of walking around a car trying to remember whether a particular scratch was already there.

According to Mercedes-Benz, automated documentation also allows service advisers to spend less time on administrative processes and more time interacting with customers. AI-assisted detection may additionally flag repair requirements that could be missed during a conventional visual inspection.

New Landmark Cars Facility Spans 58,000 Sq Ft

The new Landmark Cars facility in Mumbai is a 2S service centre spread across approximately 58,000 sq. ft. Mercedes-Benz said it is the largest luxury car service facility in the city and the first in India to receive the automated Xentry Vehicle Scanner.

The facility was completed in about six months and houses 16 Preventive Maintenance and General Repair bays, nine Body & Paint bays and nine supporting bays.

It also includes a dedicated 6,000 sq. ft. spare-parts area and employs around 95 trained professionals.

With the new outlet, Mercedes-Benz now has 14 luxury facilities in Mumbai.

Sanjay Thakker, Chairman & Executive Director, Landmark Cars, commented:

“We are delighted to present our customers a state-of-art service facility in Mumbai, along with an innovative Vehicle Scanner, which is highly efficient, will drive customer convenience and lead to excellent customer experience. At Landmark Cars we are committed to offer world-class sales and service experience to customers and Landmark Cars will further strengthen our market presence in Mumbai reflecting our ‘customer first’ approach. We are honoured to remain a long-standing partner of trust for a global icon like Mercedes-Benz, expanding our presence across Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Maharashtra, growing steadily with the brand.”

Mercedes-Benz Expands Focus on Lower Ownership Costs

Mercedes-Benz said its service strategy is centred on five areas: seamless ownership, time efficiency, technology- and AI-led trust and loyalty, customer experience, and lower total cost of ownership.

Its existing ownership initiatives include Star Ease service packages, a three-year standard warranty and extended warranty coverage of up to six years through Advance Assurance.

Other customer-service programmes listed by the company include MB.Charge Public, the Mercedes-Benz Financial Services mobile app and SKYLine, its India-developed dealer management system.

For faster servicing, Mercedes-Benz offers Premier Express Prime, Fast Lane Body & Paint and Doorstep Mobile Service.

Customer-support initiatives also include HV Battery Reports, Collision Care Connected Support, mobility assistance with tele-diagnostics and live tracking, and a Chauffeur Training Programme.

Mercedes-Benz also highlighted customer-loyalty initiatives such as its classic-car community, Customer Experience Days and service clinics, along with AI-powered agents for faster query resolution.

Over 90 Service Touchpoints Across India

Mercedes-Benz India currently operates more than 90 service touchpoints, supported by over 1,200 service bays and a workforce of more than 4,200 people.

According to company figures, the network sells approximately 12,500 parts per day and services around three cars every minute across India.

The automaker plans to add more than 20 luxury outlets during 2026. Mercedes-Benz said its franchise partners have committed investments exceeding ₹450 crore over the next two years to support the network expansion.

The new Mumbai facility and AI-led inspection system form part of Mercedes-Benz India’s “Go to Customer” strategy, under which the company is increasing its presence across major metropolitan areas as well as emerging markets.

As luxury-car buyers increasingly judge brands not only by horsepower and cabin technology but also by how painless a workshop visit can be, Mercedes-Benz’s latest initiatives indicate that after-sales service is becoming another important battleground in India’s premium automobile market.
