New Delhi: Sonalika Tractors has reported its best-ever July sales performance, selling 11,442 tractors overall during the month, supported by a 27.2% increase in domestic sales, the company said on Monday.
International Tractors Limited, which manufactures Sonalika tractors, said its domestic growth during July was about 1.3 times the pace of the broader domestic tractor industry. The company also claimed to have recorded the highest market-share gain in the domestic market during the period.
The performance extends Sonalika’s growth momentum in FY2026-27 and comes as tractor makers prepare for demand linked to the kharif agricultural season and the upcoming festive period.
According to the company, improving monsoon conditions and progress in kharif sowing have encouraged farmers to prepare for seasonal agricultural activity. Sonalika said it is also witnessing a shift in demand towards higher-horsepower tractors as farmers seek to complete agricultural operations within tighter working windows.
Higher-HP machines are generally positioned for applications requiring greater pulling power and productivity, particularly where farmers need to cover larger areas or operate heavier implements. In other words, when the farming calendar gets crowded, a little extra horsepower rarely complains.
Speaking on the record performance, Raman Mittal, Joint Managing Director, International Tractors Limited, said, “Our 27.2% domestic growth stands as an industry-leading achievement, and we are proud it positions us as the highest market share gainer in the space. We are also delighted to have recorded our highest-ever July overall sales of 11,442 tractors which reflects the strength of our strategic commitment to provide the best to farmers.
With the demand gradually shifting towards higher HP tractors, farmers today are investing heavily in tractors that are efficient, offer dependable performance and assure higher productivity to secure their future. We remain focused on ensuring that our products are fully geared to meet the growing demand of farmers in the upcoming festive season.”
Sonalika attributed the July performance to its focus on customised agricultural solutions, product development and operational efficiency. The company said its tractor portfolio is designed to address different farming applications and operating conditions.
The latest numbers also highlight the importance of agricultural conditions to India’s tractor market. Monsoon rainfall, sowing activity, crop prospects and rural income expectations typically influence farm-equipment purchasing decisions, while the festive season can provide an additional demand trigger.
Founded in 1996, Sonalika Tractors is headquartered in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, and operates across more than 150 countries. The company describes itself as India’s largest tractor export brand and is part of International Tractors Limited.
Sonalika manufactures its tractors at an integrated production facility and offers models across different horsepower categories for domestic and overseas markets. The company has also introduced publicly accessible information on tractor prices and service costs through its website as part of its efforts to improve pricing transparency.
The manufacturer is marking its 30th anniversary in 2026.
Sonalika’s record July performance arrives at an important point in the agricultural calendar, with the strength of the monsoon, kharif activity and rural demand likely to shape tractor sales over the coming months. Whether the industry’s current momentum carries into the festive season will provide a clearer indication of the broader health of India’s farm-equipment market.
