New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India Limited has announced that its Brezza compact SUV has crossed the 1.5 million cumulative sales milestone in India, marking another significant achievement for one of the country’s most established SUV nameplates. The milestone comes as the recently introduced New Brezza, launched in July 2026, has already attracted more than 1,00,000 bookings, according to the company.
The achievement reflects the Brezza’s sustained popularity in India’s fiercely competitive compact SUV segment, where changing consumer preferences, new entrants and expanding powertrain choices have steadily raised expectations.
Maruti Suzuki describes the Brezza as India’s highest-selling compact SUV, citing sales volume data from February 2015 to May 2026, certified by JATO Dynamics Limited on July 7, 2026.
New Maruti Suzuki Brezza Crosses 1 Lakh Bookings
The latest sales milestone coincides with growing demand for the New Brezza, which entered the market in July 2026 with revised styling, additional technologies and a broader selection of powertrains.
According to Maruti Suzuki, the updated model has received more than 1,00,000 bookings since its introduction, indicating continued customer interest in the nameplate.
The company is positioning the New Brezza to appeal to a wider spectrum of buyers, ranging from young professionals purchasing their first SUV to established customers seeking an everyday family vehicle.
With India’s compact SUV market becoming increasingly crowded, the Brezza’s established customer base and expanding product range remain important elements of Maruti Suzuki’s strategy.
Multiple Engine Options and Improved CNG Packaging
One of the significant developments in the New Brezza is the availability of multiple powertrain choices designed to accommodate different driving requirements.
The updated SUV is offered with the new Turbo Boosterjet engine, the K15C petrol engine and S-CNG technology, giving customers a choice of performance characteristics and fuel options.
The Brezza S-CNG also introduces an underbody CNG fuel-tank configuration, designed to preserve luggage space.
This arrangement addresses a practical limitation traditionally associated with some CNG vehicles, where the fuel cylinder occupies a substantial portion of the boot.
For buyers who routinely balance fuel expenses against family luggage requirements, the revised packaging could be particularly relevant. After all, an economical journey becomes considerably less convenient when the luggage has to compete with the fuel tank.
Five-Star Bharat NCAP Safety Rating
Safety is another prominent aspect of the updated Brezza.
According to Maruti Suzuki, the New Brezza has secured a five-star Bharat NCAP safety rating, adding to its positioning as a family-oriented compact SUV.
The rating represents an important consideration as Indian consumers increasingly assess vehicles on crash protection and safety equipment alongside fuel efficiency, features and purchase price.
The combination of updated powertrains, improved practicality and the reported safety rating reflects the company’s efforts to keep the Brezza competitive as customer expectations evolve.
A Decade of Growth in India’s Compact SUV Segment
Over the past decade, the Brezza has developed into an important product within Maruti Suzuki’s SUV portfolio.
Its cumulative sales of more than 1.5 million units underline the scale of its presence in a segment that has undergone substantial transformation, particularly as buyers have increasingly gravitated towards SUVs.
Maruti Suzuki also highlighted the model’s strong brand recognition among prospective customers.
According to the company, 56% of buyers consider the Brezza before formally beginning their vehicle purchase journey, suggesting that the model frequently enters customers’ consideration lists at an early stage.
The company attributes this recognition to the Brezza’s established market presence, SUV styling and appeal across different customer groups.
However, sustained success in the compact SUV market increasingly depends on more than familiarity. Buyers now have access to a broader selection of vehicles offering different powertrains, technologies, safety equipment and ownership propositions.
What the Sales Milestone Means for Maruti Suzuki
The Brezza’s 1.5 million sales milestone arrives at an important time for Maruti Suzuki as it seeks to strengthen its position in India’s SUV market.
The more than 1,00,000 bookings recorded for the New Brezza suggest a promising initial response, although bookings and completed vehicle sales represent different measures of demand.
The expanded powertrain lineup, underbody CNG tank arrangement and five-star Bharat NCAP safety rating give the company additional points of differentiation in a competitive category.
For Maruti Suzuki, the immediate challenge will be converting the New Brezza’s booking momentum into sustained retail sales while retaining the broad customer appeal that helped establish the nameplate.
The milestone is also indicative of a wider shift in India’s passenger vehicle market, where compact SUVs have evolved from an emerging category into an important battleground for manufacturers. With more than 15 lakh cumulative sales behind it, the Brezza has demonstrated its staying power. Its next chapter will depend on how effectively it responds to increasingly demanding Indian car buyers.
