Nissan Motor India Sales Jump 218% in July as New Tekton SUV Reaches Customers

Gurugram: Nissan Motor India reported a sharp improvement in its domestic business in July 2026, with wholesales rising 218% year-on-year and 50% month-on-month to 4,518 units, as the automaker began customer deliveries of its new Nissan Tekton SUV across the country.

Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. (NMIPL) recorded total wholesales of 9,339 units during the month, comprising 4,518 units in the domestic market and 4,821 units for exports.

The performance comes as Nissan expands from what had been a single-product operation in India to a three-model portfolio comprising the Magnite, Gravite and Tekton, an important shift in the Japanese automaker’s efforts to rebuild its presence in one of the world’s major automobile markets.

Nissan Tekton Deliveries Begin Across India

Customer deliveries of the all-new Nissan Tekton began nationwide on July 20, following the SUV’s World Premiere on July 9, 2026.

The Tekton joins the Magnite and Gravite in Nissan’s Indian line-up, giving the company a broader product portfolio as it seeks to strengthen its retail operations and attract customers across multiple segments.

Commenting on the sales performance, Mr. Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd., said, “The 218% year-on-year growth in domestic wholesales in July is a strong reflection of the momentum Nissan is building in India, and the confidence customers continue to place in our brand. The commencement of customer deliveries for the all-new Nissan Tekton is another significant milestone, further strengthening our SUV portfolio and marking an important step in Nissan’s growth journey.”

The July numbers offer a notable change in pace for Nissan’s domestic operations. Sustaining that momentum, however, will depend not only on fresh models but also on how effectively the company expands its sales and service network — because even an adventurous SUV eventually needs a workshop closer than the Himalayas.

Tekton Draws Inspiration From Nissan Patrol

Nissan has positioned the Tekton as part of its long-running SUV heritage, with its design taking inspiration from the Nissan Patrol.

Vatsa added, “Celebrating 75 years of Nissan SUV excellence, the Tekton embodies our rich SUV heritage while introducing a premium SUV experience tailored for Indian customers. Design inspired by the legendary Nissan Patrol, the Tekton combines striking design, benchmark in dynamics, advanced safety technologies and exceptional comfort to deliver a compelling ownership proposition. Backed by the Nissan Care package and a continued focus on enhancing the overall customer experience, we are committed to creating sustainable long-term value for our customers and further strengthening Nissan’s presence across India.”

The start of customer deliveries follows an extensive introduction programme for the Tekton, which included its global premiere as well as a high-altitude convoy drive recognised by the India Book of Records.

A convoy of 60 Nissan Tekton SUVs travelled from Chandigarh to Leh via the Zanskar region, crossing the 16,703-foot-high Shinku La. The drive received recognition for the “Largest Convoy of Single-Model 4-Wheeler to Reach Leh.”

According to Nissan, the exercise was intended to demonstrate the Tekton’s durability, reliability and off-road capability.

Nissan Expands Retail and Service Presence

Alongside the introduction of new products, Nissan said it continues to expand its retail and service footprint across India as part of a wider effort to improve vehicle accessibility and the ownership experience.

The transition to a three-product portfolio represents a significant step for the company, which is seeking to build customer confidence through new models, greater network reach and enhanced after-sales support.

Nissan has also reiterated its focus on expanding customer touchpoints while maintaining global standards of quality, innovation and reliability in India.

July’s 218% domestic wholesale growth gives Nissan an encouraging start to this expanded-product phase. The more consequential test will be whether the Magnite, Gravite and newly launched Tekton can turn a strong month into sustained growth — and establish Nissan as a more substantial player in India’s increasingly crowded automotive market.
