Jaipur: Toyota Kirloskar Motor has launched the ninth-generation Hilux in India, with prices starting at ₹31.99 lakh, ex-showroom. Bookings opened on July 28, while customer deliveries are scheduled to begin in the second week of August 2026.
The new lifestyle pickup is available in three automatic variants — 4X4 VX, 4X4 GX and 4X2 GX — and continues to use Toyota’s 2.8-litre diesel engine. The updated Hilux also receives a substantially redesigned exterior, a larger infotainment system, connected-car technology and an expanded list of safety and convenience features.
Toyota has developed the new Hilux around what it calls the “Tough & Agile” design philosophy. Its front styling draws inspiration from the “Cyber Sumo” concept, referring to the stable and powerful pre-combat posture associated with sumo wrestling.
The result is a wider-looking front end with a prominent grille, sculpted bonnet and muscular proportions. The pickup may be ready for mud and rocks, but Toyota has ensured it will not look out of place arriving at a hotel lobby either.
The exterior package includes a redesigned front bumper with piano-black accents, LED headlamps with a welcome function, LED fog lamps and distinctive daytime running lights. Other elements include alloy wheels, aerodynamic stabilising fins, electrically adjustable and retractable outside rear-view mirrors, LED rear combination lamps and a shark-fin antenna.

2.8-Litre Diesel Engine Produces 204 PS
Powering the new Hilux is Toyota’s familiar 2.8-litre, four-cylinder BS6 Phase 2 diesel engine. It produces 150 kW, equivalent to 204 PS, and a peak torque output of 500 Nm.
The engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, while an 80-litre fuel tank is intended to support long-distance touring and heavy-duty use.
Toyota said the vehicle has been developed to deliver usable performance across highways, city roads and challenging terrain. The Hilux is based on the company’s IMV platform and is positioned as a vehicle capable of supporting commercial requirements, everyday urban travel and recreational driving.
Its four-wheel-drive system offers selectable High, or H4, and Low, or L4, ranges. The 4X4 versions also receive an Electronic Differential Lock and Downhill Assist Control for difficult off-road conditions.
The suspension setup comprises double wishbones at the front and leaf springs at the rear. Toyota said the suspension and braking systems have been tuned to provide improved stability, road grip and ride comfort.
Larger Touchscreen and Connected Features
Inside, the Hilux receives a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. It is accompanied by Toyota i-Connect connected-car features, voice-recognition functionality and an eight-speaker audio system.
The pickup also gets a seven-inch combination meter, multi-information TFT displays and steering-mounted audio controls.
Cabin features include soft-touch materials, metallic accents, tilt-and-telescopic steering adjustment and 60:40 split-folding rear seats. Toyota has also provided multiple storage areas across the cabin to improve everyday practicality.
Other equipment includes Smart Entry, push-button start and stop, wireless smartphone charging, cruise control, a rear armrest and PM2.5 air filtration.
Drivers can select between Eco, Normal and Sport driving modes. Power windows with jam protection, power steering and parking-assistance features are also included.
Seven Airbags and Panoramic View Monitor
The safety package includes seven SRS airbags, Vehicle Stability Control, an Anti-lock Braking System with Brake Assist, an Emergency Brake Signal and ISOFIX child-seat anchorages.
The Hilux also features front seatbelts with force limiters, speed-sensing door locks and Toyota’s impact-absorbing Global Outstanding Assessment body structure.
A panoramic-view monitor, front and rear parking sensors and a tyre-pressure monitoring system have been included to assist drivers while parking and manoeuvring the pickup in confined spaces.
Commenting on the launch, Masakazu Yoshimura, Chairman, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said, “At Toyota Kirloskar Motor, customer centricity means understanding what customers need today and preparing for what they will aspire for tomorrow. Backed by Toyota’s authentic engineering and legendary durability, the new Hilux combines bold design and powerful performance representing the growing convergence of utility and lifestyle.

Sabari Manohar, Executive Vice President – Sales-Service-Used Car Business, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said, “The exterior and interior of the all-new Hilux is designed under the ‘Tough & Agile’ concept, combining ‘strength with agility’, emphasizing simplicity that is also powerful. Six Exterior Colours Offered
Toyota is offering the Hilux in six exterior colours: Super White, Platinum Pearl White, Attitude Black+, Emotional Red, Sulphur Metallic+ and Ash. Sulphur Metallic+ and Ash are newly introduced options.
Customers can also personalise the pickup through genuine accessories such as headlamp garnishes, door-garnish kits, side visors and side protective mouldings.
Toyota said the Hilux will be supported by its assured-service network, with the company placing emphasis on reliability, maintenance support and long-term ownership.
The new Hilux enters a relatively specialised segment in India, where pickup trucks are increasingly being marketed as both working vehicles and lifestyle machines. Its success will depend not only on how convincingly it tackles rough terrain, but also on how many buyers decide that an open cargo bed belongs in the premium-vehicle conversation.
