Citroën Expands Comfort Edition Line-Up with Basalt X, Prices Start at ₹8.75 Lakh

Chennai: Citroën India has launched the Basalt X Comfort Edition at a starting price of ₹8.75 lakh, expanding its comfort-focused range with premium interior upgrades and optional technology and convenience packages.

Introduced as part of Citroën’s 108th anniversary celebrations, the new edition follows the Aircross Comfort Edition and is intended to make selected premium features accessible across the Basalt X’s base and mid-level variants.

The most notable standard upgrade is the addition of Metropolitan Beige leatherette seats across Comfort Edition variants. Citroën says the new upholstery is intended to give the cabin a richer appearance while improving the overall in-car experience.

Customers will also be able to personalise the vehicle through curated Comfort AXS Packs. Depending on the package selected, available equipment includes a JBL premium audio system, a front and cabin dashboard camera with predictive safety alerts, a reverse parking camera, wireless smartphone charging and a 10-inch Android touchscreen.

The packs combine convenience, technology and styling enhancements, allowing buyers to select features based on their requirements instead of receiving every possible gadget by default — a useful approach for customers who prefer comfort without turning the dashboard into mission control.

According to the company, the Basalt X Comfort Edition has been developed for buyers seeking a more premium ownership experience while remaining conscious of value. The upgrades are aimed at improving daily commutes as well as longer highway journeys.

Kumar Priyesh, Business Head & Director – Automotive Brands, Stellantis India, said: “At Citroën, comfort has always been at the heart of everything we do. As we celebrate Citroën’s 108th anniversary globally, the introduction of the Basalt X Comfort Edition further reinforces our commitment to bringing comfort-led innovation to Indian customers. Following the encouraging response to the Aircross Comfort Edition, we are extending this philosophy to the Basalt, making premium comfort features more accessible across our portfolio. The Basalt X Comfort Edition combines premium factory-fitted interiors with thoughtfully curated Comfort AXS Packs that enhance convenience, technology and personalization—delivering greater value and an ownership experience that truly reflects Citroën’s Advanced Comfort philosophy.”

The Comfort Edition combines factory-fitted interior enhancements with dealer-accessory packages, giving customers some flexibility in configuring the vehicle around their lifestyle and budget.

The launch also strengthens Citroën’s broader Advanced Comfort positioning in India, where the company is attempting to differentiate its products through ride comfort, cabin practicality and customisable equipment rather than relying solely on longer feature lists.

The Citroën Basalt X Comfort Edition is now available through the company’s dealerships across India. Its success will depend not only on the appeal of the upgraded cabin and accessory packs, but also on whether buyers view the ₹8.75 lakh starting price as a persuasive balance between affordability, comfort and everyday technology.
