Tesla Drives Into Bengaluru’s Whitefield, Launches New 6-Seater Model Y L at ₹61.99 Lakh

If Bengaluru’s traffic wasn’t already electric enough with startups, coding marathons and food delivery scooters flying around Whitefield, Tesla has now officially joined the party. The American EV giant has opened its first experience center in Bengaluru’s tech corridor, bringing along the newly launched Model Y L — a three-row, six-seater electric SUV starting at ₹61.99 lakh.

Located in Whitefield, often called India’s Silicon Valley, the new Tesla Experience Center will allow customers to get up close with the Model Y lineup starting May 14, 2026. The company says the move is aimed at serving India’s growing appetite for premium electric mobility while strengthening Tesla’s long-term presence in the country.

And yes, Bengaluru’s IT crowd finally has another thing to discuss besides AI, cloud computing and whether their cab will arrive before retirement.

Model Y L Arrives As Tesla’s Family-Focused EV

The highlight of the launch is undoubtedly the new Tesla Model Y L, a six-seater electric SUV designed with family practicality in mind. Tesla claims the vehicle offers a WLTP-certified driving range of up to 681 km, while sprinting from 0-100 km/h in just 5.0 seconds — proving that school-drop duties can now happen at sports-car pace.

The three-row layout has been engineered to maximize cabin space, headroom and comfort for passengers across all rows. Tesla says the SUV offers cargo capacity of up to 2,539 litres, making it suitable for everything from airport runs to ambitious Indian family road trips where luggage somehow multiplies every 50 kilometres.

The standard Model Y will also be available for customers to experience at the new Bengaluru facility. Tesla highlighted that Model Y remained one of the world’s best-selling vehicles between 2023 and 2025.

Safety, Charging & Ownership Experience

Tesla emphasized the global safety credentials of the Model Y lineup. Both the Model Y and Model Y L have received top safety ratings from several global crash-testing organizations including NHTSA and IIHS in the United States, Euro NCAP in Europe, ANCAP in Australia and New Zealand, and CIASI in China.

The company also announced expansion of its after-sales and service network operations in Whitefield to support customers locally. This is expected to play a key role in improving ownership confidence for Indian buyers stepping into premium EVs.

Charging remains one of Tesla’s strongest talking points globally, and the company says the Model Y L can add up to 288 km of range in just 15 minutes using Tesla Superchargers. Tesla’s signature “Plug In, Charge and Go” experience is also being introduced for Indian customers, alongside home charging support.

Tesla’s India Push Gets Serious

Tesla’s Bengaluru expansion signals a deeper commitment to the Indian market after years of speculation, policy discussions and endless social media debates asking, “When is Tesla coming to India?”

Now the answer appears to be: right into the heart of Bengaluru’s startup ecosystem — where the parking lots may soon feature as many Teslas as MacBooks.

With premium EV adoption gradually accelerating in India, Tesla’s entry into Whitefield could become a major step in shaping the country’s luxury electric vehicle landscape.
