Bangalore: Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) reported sales of 32,842 units in August 2026, comprising 28,410 units in the domestic market and 4,432 units exported, as the automaker continued to record higher cumulative volumes during the calendar year.
For the January-August 2026 period, Toyota recorded cumulative sales of 2,66,696 units, up 10% from 2,41,733 units sold during the corresponding period of 2025.
Domestic demand accounted for most of the increase. Toyota sold 2,44,592 units in India between January and August 2026, compared with 2,19,992 units during the same eight-month period last year, representing an 11% year-on-year increase.
Exports also moved higher, although at a more modest pace. The company shipped 22,104 units overseas during January-August 2026, against 21,741 units a year earlier, translating into 2% growth.

Commenting on the sales performance, Sabari Manohar, Executive Vice President, Sales-Service-Used Car Business, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said, ” We will continue to remain focused on listening to our customers and responding to their evolving needs through customer-centric innovations and differentiated product experiences. As we look ahead, we remain positive about the opportunities presented by the upcoming festive season.”
The figures indicate that Toyota’s domestic business continues to be the primary driver of its growth in 2026, with the Indian market adding nearly 24,600 units over the corresponding January-August period last year.
Exports, meanwhile, increased by 363 units, providing incremental support to the company’s overall performance.
The August numbers arrive as India’s automobile industry heads towards the important festive sales period, traditionally a closely watched stretch for manufacturers and dealers. Toyota, too, is looking towards the upcoming season with optimism — a time of year when carmakers generally hope customers are as willing to open their wallets as they are their festive sweet boxes.
With eight months of the year completed, Toyota’s 10% cumulative growth puts the company ahead of its January-August 2025 volume. The coming festive months will now determine whether that momentum can be sustained through the remainder of 2026, particularly as domestic demand remains central to the company’s overall sales performance.
