BMW Group India Shifts into Top Gear in 2025, Smashes Sales Records and Supercharges Luxury EV Growth

Gurugram: If there were a victory lap for luxury cars, BMW Group India would be waving to the crowd—one hand on the steering wheel, the other on the sales chart. The luxury automaker has clocked its highest-ever annual car sales of 18,001 units in CY 2025, registering a robust +14% YoY growth and comfortably outpacing the average growth of India’s luxury segment. Simply put, the engines were warm, the throttle was wide open—and the numbers followed.

The sprint turned into a full-blown drag race in Q4 (Oct–Dec), where BMW Group India posted its best-ever quarterly sales of 6,023 units, up +17% YoY. Over the full year, BMW delivered 17,271 cars, MINI added 730 units, while BMW Motorrad revved up with 5,841 motorcycles delivered.

Consistency, Now with Sport Mode On

What’s more impressive than a record year? Repeating it. BMW Group India has now delivered four consecutive years of highest-ever sales, with every month and every quarter in 2025 setting new benchmarks. The brand’s growth trajectory stayed in the fast lane across powertrains and body styles—ICE or EV, sedan or SAV, standard wheelbase or long wheelbase—no speed bumps in sight.

Commenting on the performance, Hardeep Singh Brar, President & CEO, BMW Group India, said 2025 was a milestone year as the company crossed the 18,000-unit mark while growing faster than the luxury market average. He underlined that the brand’s leadership in luxury EVs is not just accelerating sustainable mobility, but also expanding the overall luxury car market in India—all while staying true to BMW’s core promise of sheer driving pleasure.

Electric, and Electrifying

BMW Group India didn’t just keep pace with electrification—it set the pace. The company retained its position as India’s No.1 luxury EV brand for the fourth consecutive year, delivering 3,753 electric vehicles, a jaw-dropping +200% YoY growth. EVs now account for 21% of total sales, up sharply from 8% last year.

From the flagship BMW i7 at the top end to the highly popular BMW iX1 at the entry level, BMW EVs led their respective segments. In fact, the iX1 emerged as the highest-selling premium EV in India, proving that electric can be both aspirational and accessible.

Supporting this surge is a comprehensive luxury EV ecosystem—Destination Charging, Smart E-Routing, Charging Concierge, High-Performance Electric Corridors—and access to 6,000+ charging points nationwide. The luxury EV lineup now spans seven cars and two electric scooters, making BMW’s electric garage the widest in the segment.

Long Wheelbase: Where Space Meets Status

Indian luxury buyers clearly like their legroom generous and their comfort uncompromised. BMW’s Long Wheelbase (LWB) range recorded a phenomenal +162% YoY growth with 8,608 units sold, now contributing 50% of BMW’s total sales (up from 29% last year). The BMW 3 Series Long Wheelbase also retained its crown as the highest-selling premium sedan in its segment.

SAVs Keep Climbing

BMW’s Sports Activity Vehicles (SAVs) continued their upward climb with 10,748 units sold, up +22% YoY, accounting for 60% of total sales. The BMW X1 led the charge as the brand’s best-selling SAV, followed by the ever-popular BMW X5—proof that versatility with a performance edge is a winning formula.

MINI: Big Personality, Steady Growth

MINI India delivered 730 cars in 2025, growing +3% YoY. New launches such as the MINI Convertible and MINI Countryman JCW ALL4 added freshness to the lineup, while the MINI Cooper S stole the spotlight with an impressive +47% growth.

BMW Motorrad: Performance on Two Wheels

On two wheels, BMW Motorrad remained the leader in India’s premium high-performance motorcycle space. The BMW G 310 RR emerged as the highest-selling model in the smart-cc category with +24% growth, while icons like the BMW S 1000 RR and GS/GSA range continued to enjoy strong demand.

Retail.Next and Smart Finance: Experience Meets Ease

With Retail.Next, BMW Group India is redefining luxury retail—97 touchpoints across 40 cities today, with 19 new outlets planned in 18 cities in 2026. Complementing this is BMW Smart Finance, offering flexible ownership options, assured buy-back, and easy upgrades—because buying a BMW should feel as smooth as driving one.
