Mumbai: In a landmark moment for Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., India’s premier SUV manufacturer, the first-ever Thar Roxx, VIN 001, was officially handed over to Aakash Minda, the highest bidder in an online auction that captured the imagination of automobile enthusiasts across the country. The winning bid, an impressive ₹1.31 crore, outshone 20 other contenders during a competitive event hosted on carandbike.com from September 15 to 16, 2024.
Minda, who previously acquired the inaugural Thar 3-door in 2020 for ₹1.11 crore, once again claimed victory, this time choosing the Nebula Blue variant from seven stunning color options available. The exclusive vehicle was delivered in New Delhi by Mahindra Automotive’s Chief Marketing Officer, Manjari Upadhye. It features a personalized badge signed by Mahindra Group Chairman, Anand Mahindra, and a distinctive branding plate marked 001, enhancing its appeal as a collector’s masterpiece.
The auction garnered over 10,980 registrations, reflecting the strong enthusiasm for Mahindra’s limited-edition model. Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.’s Automotive Sector, expressed his excitement over the overwhelming response, stating, “The massive interest from more than 10,000 participants highlights the deep connection people have with Thar Roxx. We congratulate Aakash Minda for his success in the auction and for becoming a part of this historic moment. The proceeds going to Naandi Foundation make this achievement even more meaningful.”
Aakash Minda, Executive Director of Minda Corporation Limited, expressed his pride in being part of Mahindra’s legacy: “Owning the first-ever Thar Roxx after securing the first Thar in 2020 enriches my connection to this iconic brand. What makes this experience even more special is the charitable aspect, with proceeds going towards a noble cause. It’s an honor to contribute to this significant chapter in Mahindra’s journey.”
The auction’s proceeds were donated to the Naandi Foundation, a well-known non-profit organization. In a show of solidarity, Mahindra matched the winning bid, effectively doubling the impact of the charitable donation.
