In a grand celebration of 130 years of motorsport excellence, Mercedes-AMG has introduced a highly exclusive addition to its lineup: the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport. Debuting at the prestigious Pebble Beach Automotive Week, this limited-edition model stands as a tribute to both the brand’s storied racing heritage and its forward-thinking engineering.
Priced at €1,030,000 (INR 9.53 crore), the GT3 Edition 130Y is not just another performance car; it’s a piece of history. With only 13 units available worldwide, this collector’s item marks the final iteration of the GT3 to feature the iconic AMG 6.3-litre V8 naturally aspirated engine. Boasting 680 horsepower, this non-homologated model is the most powerful GT3 ever produced by the Affalterbach-based team.
The car’s design marries cutting-edge aerodynamics with classic styling cues reminiscent of the legendary Mercedes-Benz 300 SL W 194 from 1952. The exterior is finished in a unique silver, evoking the iconic Silver Arrows, while blue accents on the wings and grille pay homage to past racing triumphs. Inside, the cabin blends modern motorsport technology with retro-inspired elements, including blue checkered fabric seats and walnut wood steering wheel grips, a nod to the SLR 300 models that Juan Manuel Fangio once piloted to victory.
Under the skin, the GT3 Edition 130Y is engineered for peak performance. The aerodynamic upgrades, including an advanced Drag Reduction System (DRS) inspired by Formula 1, allow for top speeds exceeding 315 km/h, while the carbon-ceramic brakes and lightweight construction contribute to superior handling and stopping power. The car’s track credentials were recently proven when it set a new GT record at Australia’s Mount Panorama Circuit, with a blistering lap time of 1 minute and 56.605 seconds.
Each vehicle comes with an exclusive package that includes custom race gear designed by PUMA, a personalized helmet, and a bespoke vehicle cover. Additionally, buyers receive a 1:8 scale model of their car and a certificate of authenticity, further cementing the model’s status as a rare and valuable piece of automotive history.
Mercedes-AMG CEO Michael Schiebe and Head of Motorsport Christoph Sagemüller both emphasized the significance of the GT3 Edition 130Y in the brand’s racing legacy, with Sagemüller calling it “the crowning glory” of their current motorsport portfolio. As AMG looks to the future, this model stands as a fitting tribute to the past, encapsulating 130 years of racing passion in a single, stunning machine.
