Record Growth for MG Motor India’s ZS EV: 95% Surge in Quarterly Sales

Gurugram, July 16, 2024 – MG Motor India, a subsidiary of JSW, has reported a remarkable achievement in its electric vehicle (EV) segment. The company’s ZS EV, India’s pioneering Pure-Electric Internet SUV, recorded its highest-ever monthly sales in June 2024, marking a 95% growth in sales for Q2 2024 compared to Q1 2024. This surge underscores the increasing popularity and acceptance of EVs among Indian consumers. Notably, electric vehicles constituted 40% of MG’s total sales in June, indicating a significant shift toward sustainable transportation solutions.

The overall NEV (New Energy Vehicle) sales for MG Motor India saw a 21% year-on-year increase in June, reinforcing the company’s strategic focus on expanding its electric vehicle offerings. The NEV segment grew by 39% in Q2 2024 compared to the previous quarter, highlighting the accelerating adoption of MG’s electric vehicles. The company is committed to advancing technology and infrastructure for a greener future, focusing on efficiency, performance, and sustainability.

“Our strategic emphasis on broadening our electric vehicle portfolio is paying off, as demonstrated by the robust sales performance of our EVs,” said Satinder Bajwa, Chief Commercial Officer of MG Motor India. “The substantial contribution of NEVs to our total sales affirms our dedication to sustainable mobility. We remain steadfast in supporting India’s transition to electric vehicles by offering innovative and environmentally friendly transportation solutions,” he added.

Beyond impressive sales figures, MG Motor India has made significant strides in bolstering its position as a leader in the Indian NEV market. The company has installed more than 15,000 charging touchpoints nationwide, including public and home chargers, through partnerships within its ecosystem, ensuring extensive charging infrastructure.

MG Motor India continues to innovate, introducing a range of intelligent connected internal combustion engine (ICE) and NEV products. With a strong emphasis on EVs, the company plans to enhance battery assembly at its plant, explore cell manufacturing, and ramp up production with significant localization efforts.
