JLR India Achieves Record-Breaking Q1 FY25 Sales Growth

Mumbai, 10 July 2024: JLR India has reported a remarkable start to FY25, with a 31% year-on-year increase in retail sales, reaching 1,371 units in the first quarter ending June 30, 2024. This growth highlights the sustained momentum from the previous year, driven by exceptional demand for the newly launched, locally manufactured Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models.

Key figures from the quarter include a 45% year-on-year growth in wholesale volumes and a 23% increase in order intake. The Defender emerged as the highest-selling model, with a 52% rise in sales. Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and Defender models now represent 75% of JLR India’s total order book.

Rajan Amba, Managing Director of JLR India, commented on the strong performance: “Our Q1 results reflect the robust demand for our luxury vehicles. The Defender’s popularity and the overwhelming response to our locally produced Range Rover models have positioned us for continued success. We are committed to maintaining this momentum and delivering another stellar year. Our focus on a sustainable, modern luxury lineup is resonating well with the Indian market.”

JLR’s Vision and Strategic Goals

JLR’s Reimagine strategy underpins its vision of sustainable, modern luxury. The company aims to achieve carbon net-zero status across its supply chain, products, and operations by 2039. By 2030, JLR plans to significantly reduce emissions across its operations and value chains, adhering to science-based targets. Electrification is a cornerstone of this strategy, with plans for pure electric models in the Range Rover, Discovery, and Defender collections, while Jaguar will transition to an all-electric brand.

Extensive Product Lineup and Network

JLR India’s diverse product portfolio includes the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Velar, Range Rover Evoque, Defender, Discovery, Discovery Sport, Jaguar I-Pace, Jaguar F-Pace, and Jaguar F-Type. The company’s expansive retailer network spans 21 cities across India, with 25 authorized outlets.

Global Performance

Globally, JLR’s performance in Q1 FY25 was equally impressive, with wholesales reaching 97,755 units, a 5% increase from Q1 FY24, and retail sales at 111,180 units, marking a 9% rise. The mix of Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and Defender models has grown to 68% of total wholesale volumes and 59% of total retail sales. Notably, the waiting list for the new Range Rover Electric continues to expand, with over 39,000 sign-ups.
