Celebrating a Racing Legacy: The Bugatti Baby II Type 35 Centenary Edition Unveiled

Oxfordshire, UK — In an extraordinary collaboration with Bugatti, The Little Car Company has unveiled the Bugatti Baby II Type 35 Centenary Edition, a stunning tribute to the 100th anniversary of the Bugatti Type 35’s legendary debut at the Grand Prix de Lyon in 1924.

This special edition features six bespoke models, each uniquely designed and crafted to reflect the livery of the original six Bugatti Type 35 racecars that have left an indelible mark on both automotive and motorsport history over the past century.

Hand-built by skilled artisans at The Little Car Company’s headquarters, these scaled-down Bugatti models boast aluminum bodies, brass identification plates in the cockpit, and a beautiful Bleu de Lyon paint scheme that harks back to the original racecars. The Baby II Type 35 Centenary Edition models are based on the top-tier Pur Sang Bugatti Baby II architecture and are adorned with unique chassis numbers matching those of the original cars, power output confirmations, and a distinctive ‘1 of 1’ designation for each unit.

Every model is meticulously constructed by hand, featuring exclusive details like lockwire additions and custom louvres that mirror the original Type 35, paying homage to Bugatti’s relentless pursuit of racing excellence.

The Bugatti Type 35 made its remarkable debut at the 1924 Grand Prix de Lyon, where it was driven by icons such as Leonico Garnier (#21), Jean Chassagne (#7), Pierre de Vizcaya (#18), Meo Costantini (#22), and Ernest Friderich (#13). A sixth Type 35 prototype was reserved by Ettore Bugatti himself. The Type 35 went on to become the most successful racing car of all time, achieving over 2,500 victories and podium finishes in a decade.

A modern reimagining of Ettore Bugatti’s original design, the Bugatti Baby II is a 75% scale, electrified version of the famous Type 35. Developed using a 3D scan of the original 1924 Bugatti Grand Prix car, the Baby II Type 35 Centenary Edition features a high-performance electric motor, offering a contemporary take on a timeless classic.

“Each Bugatti Baby II Type 35 Centenary Edition pays homage to the iconic Bugatti Type 35 racecars that shaped automotive and motorsport history,” said Wiebke Ståhl, Managing Director of Bugatti International. “These meticulously detailed anniversary models reflect the essence of Bugatti’s historic racing pedigree and showcase an unparalleled level of craftsmanship.”

Ben Hedley, CEO of The Little Car Company, expressed excitement about the continued partnership with Bugatti: “These limited-edition creations honor the legendary cars that raced at the 1924 Grand Prix de Lyon, marking a pivotal moment in automotive history.”

All six Bugatti Baby II Type 35 Centenary Editions have already been sold to private collectors worldwide. For more information on the Bugatti Baby II, visit www.bugattibaby.com.
