Kuehne+Nagel and Magenta Mobility Spearhead Electric Vehicle Initiative in India

Gurugram, May 2, 2024 – In a significant push towards sustainable logistics, Kuehne+Nagel India has teamed up with Magenta Mobility to introduce electric vehicles (EVs) into its road services, marking a major step in the company’s global initiative to electrify its transportation network.

This collaboration aligns with Kuehne+Nagel’s Roadmap 2026 and Vision 2030, which targets a 33% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from its 2019 levels by 2030. The introduction of electric vehicles is a strategic move to modernize the fleet with 60% low-emission vehicles by the end of the decade, reflecting the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

The Indian government’s drive towards achieving developed country status by 2047 has heavily emphasized the adoption of electric vehicles to foster a low-carbon economy. In response, various government incentives such as tax breaks and infrastructure support are being implemented to encourage the widespread use of EVs.

Chellan Ganesan, Kuehne+Nagel’s Road Logistics Area Manager for Asia and the Pacific, emphasized the strategic importance of this partnership. “Electrifying our logistics operations in India is a crucial step in our journey towards a zero-carbon future. Magenta Mobility’s innovative solutions and commitment to electric mobility make them the perfect partner to help us achieve our ESG objectives outlined in our Roadmap 2026.”

Maxson Lewis, the Founder and CEO of Magenta Mobility, shared his enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “Our mission at Magenta Mobility has always been to provide safe, smart, and sustainable transportation solutions. We are thrilled to partner with Kuehne+Nagel and contribute to their sustainability goals, which also helps us drive forward our commitment to the environment and enhances the EV ecosystem in India.”

This initiative is part of a larger global effort by Kuehne+Nagel to incorporate electric vehicles across its operations, including recent developments in Thailand, showcasing the company’s dedication to leading the charge in eco-friendly logistics solutions worldwide.
