Renault-Nissan Alliance Announces Launch of Four New Vehicles in India on the 25th Anniversary

The Renault-Nissan Alliance (RNA) has unveiled plans to launch four new vehicles in India, comprising two 5-seater compact SUVs and two 7-seater compact SUVs, marking a significant expansion of their product lineup in one of the world’s fastest-growing automotive markets. This announcement comes as the Alliance celebrates its 25th anniversary, highlighting its continued commitment to innovation and growth in the Indian market.

Jean-Dominique Senard, Chairman of the Alliance, expressed his enthusiasm for the future of RNA in India during a special event, emphasizing the critical role India plays in the organization’s global operations. “India, with its dynamic market and vast potential, remains at the heart of our Alliance’s strategy. We are excited to introduce these new models, which underscore our commitment to the Indian market and our confidence in its continued growth,” Senard stated.

The Alliance’s presence in India is backed by impressive figures: more than 1.4 million Renault and Nissan vehicles are currently on Indian roads, with the majority developed and manufactured locally, boasting a localization ratio of over 90%. The RNAIPL plant alone has produced 2.7 million cars and 4.4 million powertrain units, with 1.2 million vehicles exported to over 100 countries. The plant’s operations have directly benefited 10,000 people through employment, supported by 300 local suppliers who also serve over 20 international markets.

The leaders of Renault and Nissan provided insights into the strategic importance of India in their global operations. Luca De Meo, CEO of Renault Group, highlighted India’s role as a comprehensive hub for the Alliance, aiming to leverage Indian competitiveness, creativity, and know-how in the global arena. Makoto Uchida, President and CEO of Nissan, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing India’s pivotal role in Nissan’s global business plans, including the ambitious “Arc” strategy, which positions India as a key export hub.

The announcement reflects the Alliance’s long-term strategy to harness India’s potential not only as a market but as a center of excellence for innovation and technology development. With the Indian automotive industry’s supportive ecosystem, including government policies and a robust supplier network, the Renault-Nissan Alliance is poised for further success, driving forward with advancements in autonomous driving, connectivity, and electrification for global markets.
