Tokyo – In a thrilling announcement that adds even more excitement to the already highly anticipated Tokyo E-Prix, Porsche, in collaboration with TAG Heuer, has revealed an exclusive new design for its Porsche 99X Electric race cars. This special unveiling, set to take place at the chic Terrada Warehouse just two days before the Formula E debut in Tokyo, promises to captivate attendees with a dazzling display of innovation and style.
The new livery, which will adorn the Porsche 99X Electric vehicles piloted by racing sensations Pascal Wehrlein and António Félix da Costa, pays tribute to the mesmerizing neon glow of Tokyo’s night-time landscape, as well as the vibrant essence of Japanese street art and car culture. Crafted at the net-carbon-neutral Weissach facility, this unique design not only celebrates the rich partnership between Porsche and TAG Heuer but also highlights the dynamic and future-oriented spirit of Formula E, the world’s first electric racing series.
Adding to the celebration, TAG Heuer is set to introduce a new Connected watch face, inspired by the striking pink hue of the Porsche 99X Electric’s livery. The TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 – Porsche Edition watch will feature an exclusive dual-color customization option in blue and pink, offering fans a stylish way to show their support.
Carlo Wiggers, Director of Team Management & Business Relations, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “The Tokyo E-Prix is a significant milestone in the success story of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. With the exclusive design of our Porsche 99X Electric, we’re not only celebrating Formula E’s premiere in this unique metropolis but also honoring our successful partnership with TAG Heuer. This design serves as our ode to one of the most fascinating cities in the world and its passionate motor racing fans.”
Julien Tornare, CEO of TAG Heuer, also shared his excitement: “Being part of the inaugural Formula E race in Japan is truly incredible. It reflects TAG Heuer’s rich history in motorsports and underscores our shared values with Porsche. Our collaboration for this event is a testament to our remarkable partnership and our commitment to delighting our audience with surprises.”
As the Tokyo E-Prix approaches on March 30, all eyes will be on the two Porsche 99X Electric race cars, #94 and #13, as they take to the track in their new fluorescent liveries, ready to electrify the competition and fans alike.
