Ford Launches Revolutionary Plug-In Hybrid Powertrain for Tourneo Connect, Enhancing Versatility and Eco-Friendliness

DUNTON, UK, March 19, 2024 – Ford today announced an innovative addition to its Tourneo Connect range with the launch of a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model, marking a significant step in the electrification of its vehicle lineup. The new Tourneo Connect PHEV, renowned for its seven-seat capacity and flexibility, introduces a pioneering powertrain that enables up to 110 km of pure-electric driving and zero tailpipe emissions in low-emission zones across Europe.

This introduction not only advances Ford’s commitment to sustainability but also complements the electrification of the entire next-generation Tourneo family in Europe, including the compact E-Tourneo Courier, the eight-seat E-Tourneo Custom, and the nine-seat Tourneo Custom Plug-In Hybrid.

Rich Hughes, Ford Europe’s Tourneo brand manager, highlighted the enhanced capability and flexibility the PHEV model brings, especially for those in need of a versatile vehicle for the school run, adventures, or work purposes. With the generous electric driving range, the new model promises to meet the varied needs of modern lifestyles.

The Tourneo Connect PHEV, set to open for orders in summer 2024 with deliveries expected in the year’s final quarter, features an advanced 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol engine coupled with a high-voltage battery and electric motor. This combination delivers a potent 150 PS and 350 Nm of torque, providing an efficient and dynamic driving experience. The vehicle supports fast charging up to 50 kW and home recharging capabilities, ensuring flexibility for long trips and everyday use.

Ford has meticulously designed the Tourneo Connect PHEV to cater to diverse customer needs, offering both five-seat and seven-seat configurations without compromising on space or versatility. The model also boasts a “digital cockpit” with twin 10-inch displays, SYNC infotainment system compatibility, and a suite of advanced driver assistance systems that ensure safety and convenience.

In line with Ford’s tradition, the Tourneo Connect PHEV will be available in Trend, Titanium, and Active series line-ups, each offering a range of features and styling options to suit different preferences and lifestyles. With this latest addition, Ford continues to pave the way for a more sustainable, versatile, and technologically advanced driving future.
