Mercedes-Benz Elevates U.S. SUV Market with Electrifying Addition: The 2025 GLC 350e 4Matic Plug-in Hybrid

Mercedes-Benz USA has proudly unveiled the upcoming expansion of its SUV lineup with the introduction of the 2025 GLC 350e 4Matic Plug-in Hybrid SUV. Scheduled to grace U.S. dealerships in the latter half of 2024, this model is set to redefine the plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) segment by integrating the renowned luxury and performance of the GLC series with advanced electrification technology.

The 2025 GLC 350e 4Matic maintains the brand’s ethos of modern, sporty luxury, enhancing the GLC SUV’s already robust design and technological features with significant performance capabilities, alongside improved comfort and agility. This introduction marks a significant expansion in Mercedes-Benz’s highly successful SUV range, promising a more versatile and environmentally friendly option for luxury SUV enthusiasts.

At the heart of the GLC 350e 4Matic’s innovation is its sophisticated hybrid drive system, combining a 134 hp electric motor with a 24.8 kWh battery for a staggering combined output of up to 313 hp and 406 lb.-ft. of torque. This setup allows for exceptionally agile acceleration thanks to the electric motor’s 325 lb.-ft. of instantly available torque, enhanced by a vacuum-independent, electromechanical brake booster for optimal energy recuperation and efficiency.

Mercedes-Benz has engineered the GLC 350e 4Matic for maximum versatility and efficiency, boasting an electric range of up to 130 kilometers (~81 miles) under the WLTP cycle, catering to most daily travel needs without engaging the internal combustion engine. The inclusion of a “Hybrid” drive program further optimizes performance, adjusting between electric and conventional propulsion based on driving conditions, including an exclusive “Off-Road” mode for electrified terrain navigation.

Externally and internally, the GLC 350e 4Matic mirrors the progressive design of its GLC 300 counterparts, offering a wide array of customization options from paint colors to upholstery and wheel designs. A new floating 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and an 11.9-inch central display feature prominently, along with the third-generation MBUX infotainment system for a seamless and intuitive user experience.

The vehicle comes richly appointed with standard features including Mercedes-Benz Navigation, Keyless-Go, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and an extensive suite of safety and convenience technologies. Mercedes me Charge, the brand’s comprehensive charging service, ensures access to nearly 100,000 public charging points nationwide, emphasizing convenience and accessibility for electric vehicle (EV) charging.

The announcement comes on the heels of Mercedes-Benz’s continued investment in EV infrastructure, including the opening of the first Mercedes-Benz Charging Hub in North America and the formation of the IONNA joint venture, promising an extensive network of high-powered charging stations across the continent.

Pricing details for the 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC 350e 4Matic SUV will be revealed as its market launch approaches, with anticipation building for what promises to be a landmark addition to the U.S. luxury SUV market.
