In an unexpected late-night adventure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, fresh from his whirlwind schedule in Gujarat, transformed into a nocturnal road inspector in Varanasi. Alongside Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, PM Modi embarked on a meticulous inspection of the newly inaugurated Shivpur-Phulwaria-Lahartara road at around 11 PM on Thursday.
This crucial roadway, constructed with an investment of Rs 360 crore, has emerged as a lifeline for approximately 5 lakh residents in Varanasi’s southern quarters, including those near Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BLW). It has notably streamlined access to the airport and key destinations like Lucknow, Azamgarh, and Ghazipur.
The project, a testament to inter-ministerial synergy involving the Railways and Defence Ministries, is not just a slab of concrete and asphalt. It’s a game-changer in urban mobility, slashing travel times dramatically – from a tedious 75 minutes to a brisk 45 minutes from BHU to the airport, and halving the Lahartara to Kachahri commute from 30 minutes to a mere 15.
In a social media post reflecting on his nocturnal escapade, PM Modi noted, “Upon landing in Kashi, inspected the Shivpur-Phulwaria-Lahartara Marg. This project was inaugurated recently and has been greatly helpful to people in the southern part of the city.”
The impromptu inspection by the nation’s top leaders underscores their commitment to urban development and ease of living, all while adding a touch of unexpected excitement to the usually quiet Varanasi night.
