Kia Seltos Takes a Pit Stop: 4,358 Models Recalled for a Tech Tune-Up in India

NEW DELHI: In a move that’s revving up conversations, Kia India announced a voluntary recall of 4,358 units of their petrol variant Seltos, all geared up for an electronic oil pump controller replacement. This recall zooms in on the Smartstream G1.5 Petrol Seltos with IVT transmission, rolled out between February 28 and July 13, 2023.

This pit stop was triggered by a glitch in the electronic oil pump controller, potentially affecting the pump’s performance in these specific models. Kia, in a statement, emphasized its commitment to high safety and reliability standards, marking this recall as a testament to their dedication.

Kia’s statement underlined, “We understand this might be a speed bump for our valued customers, but safety comes first. We’re shifting gears quickly to ensure a smooth ride ahead.” The company plans to proactively replace the affected part to maintain a seamless ownership experience.

The auto giant has also looped in the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) about this voluntary recall. The owners of the impacted vehicles will receive direct communication from Kia to bring them up to speed on this recall campaign.

Owners of these Seltos variants are advised to get in touch with their nearest Kia authorized dealers to book an appointment for the update.

In the midst of this, Kia India continues to cruise in the market, with wholesales of 86,246 units from April 2023 to January this year, as reported by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), marking a slight increase from the previous year’s figures.
