In a groundbreaking event at the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon, Lexus has unveiled the LBX Morizo RR Concept, marking a significant milestone in high-performance automotive design. Developed in collaboration with Akio Toyoda, Chairman of Toyota Motor Corporation and revered as a Master Driver, the LBX Morizo RR Concept is a performance-oriented version of the new Lexus LBX compact crossover.
The heart of this remarkable vehicle is its powerful 1.6-litre turbocharged and intercooled three-cylinder engine, capable of producing an impressive 305 DIN horsepower (224 kW). This is complemented by a Direct Shift eight-speed automatic transmission and an advanced electronically controlled all-wheel-drive system. The LBX Morizo RR Concept’s design includes exclusive elements that bear the distinct “Morizo” signature, highlighting the unique collaboration behind this vehicle.
At the Lexus booth, alongside the LBX Morizo RR Concept, attendees were also treated to the unveiling of the all-new GX 500 Overtrail JAOS version. This model, customized in partnership with SUV aftermarket specialist JAOS, further emphasizes Lexus’s commitment to innovative and high-quality vehicle design.
The LBX Morizo RR Concept represents a new chapter in Lexus’s journey, combining the essence of luxury driving with a strong focus on driver engagement. The involvement of Chairman Toyoda, also known as “Morizo”, brings a personal touch to the project, underlined by his insights shared in a special video presentation.
This concept vehicle is more than just a powerhouse. It has been meticulously crafted to enhance performance in every aspect, including its body, suspension, tires, and aerodynamics. Technologies from high-speed air racing have been adapted to refine its aerodynamic performance.
The vehicle’s design features striking Morizo’s signature yellow accents, which appear in various elements like the spindle grille, brake calipers, and seatbelts, adding a touch of casual luxury. While Lexus has not yet announced plans for a production version of the LBX Morizo RR Concept, the vehicle’s main specifications have been revealed. These include a length of 4,190 mm, width of 1,845 mm, and a height of 1,535 mm. The engine’s output is an impressive 224kW and 400Nm, with a Direct Shift 8AT transmission and electronically controlled full-time AWD. The concept also boasts 19-inch exclusive alloy wheels, unique exterior and interior design elements, and high-performance brakes.
