Tata Launches Revolutionary acti.ev Architecture with Punch.ev

Mumbai, January 5, 2024 – Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEM), a frontrunner in India’s electric vehicle (EV) revolution, has today unveiled its latest innovation: the acti.ev architecture. Pronounced ‘active’, the acti.ev (Advanced Connected Tech-Intelligent Electric Vehicle) represents a significant leap in EV technology and design. It forms the foundation for a new range of products from TPEM, beginning with the much-anticipated Punch.ev. This groundbreaking Pure Electric Architecture will support a variety of models in diverse sizes and styles.

In a major announcement, TPEM has also opened bookings for the Punch.ev. Prospective buyers can reserve their vehicle at Tata Motors showrooms authorized for EV sales, Tata.ev stores, or through the online platform at https://bit.ly/punchev-bookingsopen, with a nominal booking amount of ₹21,000.

Anand Kulkarni, Chief Products Officer and Head of HV Programs and Customer Service at TPEM, expressed his enthusiasm: “Entering 2024, we’re proud to lead the EV evolution in India with our made-in-India, advanced Pure EV architecture, acti.ev. It’s designed to set new standards in efficiency, space, battery capacity, and driving experience. Our vehicles will be future-ready, packed with software-oriented features, keeping us ahead in technology and innovation.”

The acti.ev architecture is built on four fundamental pillars: Performance, Technology, Modularity, and Space Efficiency, comprised of four distinct layers:

  1. Powertrain: The acti.ev features a highly optimized battery pack design, tested to global standards, achieving a 10% improvement in energy density. This design allows for varying range options from 300 km to 600 km. It supports multiple drivetrain options (AWD, RWD, FWD) and offers fast charging capabilities – adding around 100 km range in just 10 minutes.
  2. Chassis: The architecture’s second layer supports multiple body styles with a reinforced structure compliant with future safety protocols. The design maximizes cabin space and storage, offering a flat floor and an additional frunk, enhancing occupant comfort. Its lower center of gravity also improves driving dynamics and handling.
  3. Electrical Architecture: Featuring scalable architecture with high computing power, acti.ev is ready for ADAS level 2 capabilities. It is 5G ready for advanced network speeds and connectivity, supporting Vehicle to Load (V2L) and Vehicle to Vehicle Charging (V2V) technologies.
  4. Cloud Architecture: This layer promises an enhanced user experience with Arcade.ev, an in-car app suite. It supports superior connectivity and advanced over-the-air updates for software and other features.

The launch of Punch.ev on this architecture marks TPEM’s foray into the next generation of EVs, with a promise to continue delighting its growing community of customers. This development heralds a new era in the Indian EV market, positioning TPEM at the forefront of EV technology and innovation.
