Audi has announced the launch of the Q8 e-tron edition Dakar1, an electric SUV that merges luxury with exceptional off-road capabilities. Inspired by the Audi RS Q e-tron from the Dakar Rally, this special edition model is a nod to the world-renowned desert rally.
The Q8 e-tron edition Dakar distinguishes itself with a raised chassis, offering an additional 31 millimeters of ground clearance compared to its base model. This enhancement, along with the off-road ready General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tires, significantly improves the vehicle’s performance on loose surfaces like gravel or snow.
Based on the Q8 advanced 55 e-tron quattro, the Dakar variant is powered by a 106 kWh net battery (114 kWh gross) and features a dual-motor quattro drivetrain. This setup delivers a powerful 300 kW in boost mode and a torque of 664 Nm, allowing the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just under 6 seconds. Despite its off-road focus, the vehicle offers a respectable range of up to 487 kilometers per WLTP cycle.
The exterior of the Q8 e-tron edition Dakar is available in various colors including Siam Beige, Mythos Black, and Magnetic Gray. The vehicle also features a unique decal package, inspired by the RS Q e-tron, limited to 99 units.
Inside, the special edition model boasts an extensive array of standard equipment including Matrix LED headlights and taillights, tinted sun visors, and a S line interior package featuring sports seats in Dinamica microfiber and artificial leather. The model also offers advanced technological features like a head-up display and a special MMI display that shows the vehicle’s tilt angle.
For added convenience, the edition Dakar includes a storage and luggage compartment package, a roof rack with a load capacity of 40 kilograms, and an e-tron charging system. It also comes with eight tires – a set of all-terrain tires for off-road use and a set of standard summer tires.
Audi’s Q8 e-tron edition Dakar, a tribute to the legendary Dakar Rally, is set to be available for order in the first quarter of 2024, with prices starting around 120,000 euros in Germany (INR 1.09 crore). This unique blend of luxurious features and robust off-road capabilities marks Audi’s commitment to offering versatile and high-performance electric vehicles.
