Maruti Suzuki Victoris Crosses 1.5 Lakh Sales Milestone, Gets Special Aurum Edition

New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India Limited has introduced the Victoris Aurum Edition to commemorate the SUV’s first anniversary and its record-setting sales performance. Based on the Strong Hybrid variant, the special edition features distinctive copper-coloured accents, additional chrome detailing and practical interior accessories, with the styling kit priced at ₹22,990. The company has also partnered with Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor to promote the new edition during the festive season.

The launch follows a significant first year for the Victoris, which Maruti Suzuki claims has established a new record for the highest sales achieved by a newly launched passenger vehicle model in India during its first year.

According to the automaker, the Victoris also became India’s fastest-selling passenger vehicle to cross both the 1 lakh and 1.5 lakh sales milestones from launch, reinforcing its position in the country’s competitive SUV market.

Victoris Aurum Edition Brings Distinctive Styling

The name Aurum is derived from the Latin word for gold, reflecting what Maruti Suzuki describes as a golden first year for the Victoris.

The special edition introduces a series of exterior enhancements designed to give the SUV a more distinctive appearance without fundamentally changing its established design.

Copper-coloured inserts feature prominently across the front, side and rear skid plate designs, as well as the wheel arches. These are complemented by chrome accessories on the front grille, fenders, bumpers, body side mouldings and door visors.

Inside, the Aurum Edition receives all-weather 3D cabin mats, a 3D boot mat and a rear trunk sill guard, adding an element of practicality to the cosmetic upgrades.

The package is offered with the Victoris Strong Hybrid, which features hybrid technology with an EV driving mode. Maruti Suzuki has announced a kit price of ₹22,990 for the Aurum Edition enhancements, separate from the vehicle’s price.

The overall approach is relatively straightforward: give an already familiar SUV a more distinctive appearance, rather than reinventing the wheel—or, in this case, the wheel arches.

Maruti Suzuki Highlights First-Year Sales Records

The Victoris was developed with a focus on younger, technology-oriented customers under Maruti Suzuki’s ‘Got it All’ positioning.

According to the manufacturer, its first-year performance has surpassed previous passenger vehicle sales benchmarks for newly introduced models in India.

Commenting on the launch, Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said:

“Conceptualised as a ‘Got it All’ SUV for today’s dynamic young go-getters who ‘want it all’, the Victoris has truly won the hearts of buyers. As we celebrate its first anniversary, it’s worth noting that the Victoris has become the fastest-selling PV to clock both the 1.5 Lakh and 1 Lakh sales milestones, going on to achieve the highest sales for any car in India during its 1st year of launch. Recognising these extraordinary achievements, we are introducing the Victoris Aurum Edition Strong Hybrid, with tasteful enhancements that are sure to grab eyeballs and make this festive season feel all the more special for our valuable customers. Our association with Shahid Kapoor, for the new Aurum Edition is also sure to complement the Victoris’ contemporary appeal.”

Shahid Kapoor Joins Victoris Aurum Campaign

Maruti Suzuki has enlisted Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor as the face of the new Victoris Aurum Edition, aligning the special-edition launch with its efforts to appeal to younger, style-conscious buyers.

The association forms part of the company’s promotional strategy for the festive season, when automakers traditionally introduce special editions, accessories and other initiatives to attract buyers.

While the Aurum Edition focuses primarily on visual enhancements, its association with Kapoor adds a celebrity-led marketing element to the SUV’s first-anniversary celebrations.

Victoris Adds Multiple Car of the Year Awards to Its First-Year Achievements

Beyond its reported sales milestones, the Maruti Suzuki Victoris has also received recognition from several automotive publications and industry juries.

The SUV won the Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) 2026 award, one of the country’s prominent automotive honours.

It also received Car of the Year awards from BBC Top Gear India, Car India Magazine, ABP Live Auto and Hindustan Times Auto.

According to Maruti Suzuki, the Victoris has collected awards across several categories during its debut year, making it one of the most recognised new vehicles of 2026.

A Special Edition Built Around Sales Momentum

The introduction of the Victoris Aurum Edition comes as Maruti Suzuki seeks to build on the SUV’s first-year sales momentum while strengthening its appeal among customers interested in hybrid technology and distinctive styling.

Rather than introducing major mechanical changes, the company has chosen a relatively modest package of cosmetic and functional enhancements to mark the anniversary.

For Maruti Suzuki, the Aurum Edition is more than a festive-season styling exercise. It also provides an opportunity to highlight the Victoris’ commercial performance in a market where competition among SUVs continues to intensify. Whether the special edition can attract additional buyers remains to be seen, but its arrival underlines the growing importance of limited-edition offerings, hybrid technology and targeted marketing in India’s passenger vehicle industry.
