Wildloggers Motorsports’ Rajatesh Maji, Sonal Roy Claim Third Consecutive TSD Rally Victory

JAIPUR: Rajatesh Maji and Sonal Roy of Wildloggers Motorsports completed a hat-trick of consecutive Time-Speed-Distance rally victories after winning the fourth edition of the Desert Quest TSD Rally, held in Jaipur from August 14 to 16.

The result gave the pair three successive overall victories across three different TSD events, following wins at the INTSDRC North Round in Jaipur and the Taj Agra Rally.

Organised by Autoz365 Motorsports in association with Rajesh Toyota, Desert Quest has emerged as a prominent fixture on India’s growing TSD rally calendar, where competitors are rewarded for precision rather than outright speed.

Unlike conventional motorsport, going faster is not necessarily better in a TSD rally. Crews are required to maintain prescribed average speeds and reach checkpoints according to predetermined timings, with penalties imposed for arriving either too early or too late. In other words, a heavy right foot can be just as troublesome as a hesitant one.

The format places considerable responsibility on both the driver and navigator. Competitors must interpret tulip charts, calculate timings, maintain assigned speeds and respond to changing terrain while attempting to minimise deviations measured in seconds.

At Desert Quest, crews faced three days of competition across Rajasthan, negotiating sandy stretches and rugged forest trails. Small navigation errors or minor variations from the required pace could significantly affect the final standings.

Maji and Roy’s latest victory follows their success at the INTSDRC North Round in Jaipur and the Taj Agra Rally, completing a three-event winning sequence for the Wildloggers Motorsports crew.

The consecutive victories also underline the importance of coordination between driver and navigator in a discipline where consistency can matter more than horsepower. Each of the three rallies presented different conditions, requiring the crew to repeatedly manage navigation, timing and pressure over long distances.

Wildloggers Motorsports also recorded another podium result at Desert Quest, with teammates Kushhagr Agarwal and Shivam Jha finishing Second Runner-Up in the SUV category.

The results come as TSD rallying continues to attract a varied field in India, ranging from experienced competitors to amateur drivers and first-time navigators.

Events including the Taj Agra Rally, Royal Rajasthan Rally and the INTSDRC circuit have helped broaden participation, supported by structured competition categories and a growing community of returning entrants.

While circuit racing and other motorsport formats have traditionally commanded greater visibility, TSD events offer a comparatively accessible form of competition in which navigation, discipline and teamwork can outweigh outright vehicle performance.

For Maji and Roy, the Desert Quest victory represents another significant result in their recent rallying campaign. More broadly, their three-event streak reflects the increasingly competitive nature of India’s TSD scene, where winning once is difficult enough — and doing it three times in succession leaves considerably less room for coincidence.
