Mumbai: Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. recorded total passenger vehicle sales of 67,753 units in August 2026, up 56% year-on-year from 43,315 units sold in August 2025, supported by strong domestic demand and a sharp increase in electric vehicle volumes.
Domestic passenger vehicle sales stood at 65,253 units, compared with 41,001 units in the same month last year, representing 59% growth.
International business volumes also moved higher, though at a considerably gentler pace. Tata Motors sold 2,500 passenger vehicles in international markets, up 8% from 2,314 units in August 2025.
Together, domestic and international passenger vehicle sales — including electric vehicles — reached 67,753 units, against 43,315 units a year earlier.
EV sales surge 94%
Electric vehicles delivered the strongest percentage growth during the month.
Tata Motors reported combined EV domestic and international business sales of 16,549 units in August 2026, nearly double the 8,540 units recorded in August 2025. That translates into 94% year-on-year growth.
The EV figures include sales of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited, a subsidiary of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd.
The near-doubling of electric vehicle volumes stands out even against the company’s broader 56% passenger vehicle growth — no small feat in a month when the conventional sales numbers were hardly moving slowly themselves.

The August performance shows that Tata Motors’ passenger vehicle momentum was led overwhelmingly by its domestic business, while electric vehicles grew considerably faster than the company’s overall portfolio.
With total passenger vehicle sales rising by more than half and EV volumes almost doubling from a year earlier, Tata Motors’ August numbers underline the growing importance of electrification alongside traditional passenger vehicles in shaping the company’s sales mix.
