Parth Jindal Takes Over as Chairman of JSW MG Motor India

Mumbai: JSW MG Motor India Private Limited has appointed Parth Jindal as Chairman of the company with immediate effect, placing the JSW Group executive at the helm of the automaker as it continues to expand its product portfolio, manufacturing operations and localisation efforts in India.

The appointment was approved by the Board of Directors of JSW MG Motor India. Jindal has served on the company’s board since the formation of the joint venture and has been closely involved in its product strategy, manufacturing expansion and localisation programme.

His elevation gives him a more prominent leadership role at an automaker that has been increasing its focus on electric vehicles and locally manufactured products in the Indian market.

Jindal already holds several senior positions across the JSW Group. He is Managing Director of JSW Cement and JSW Paints, Chairman of JSW Dulux Limited and a Director on the Board of JSW Energy. He is also Founder of JSW Sports and Chairman and Co-Owner of Indian Premier League franchise Delhi Capitals.

The appointment adds another chairmanship to an already crowded corporate diary.

JSW MG Motor India said Jindal has been involved in guiding the company since the establishment of the joint venture. The company describes itself as the country’s second-largest electric vehicle manufacturer.

The JSW Group entered the automotive business through its partnership in JSW MG Motor India, with the venture placing particular emphasis on electric mobility, manufacturing capacity and localisation.

Roles Across JSW Group

Jindal oversees JSW Cement, which has a capacity of 24.1 million tonnes per annum. He also leads JSW Paints, which was launched in May 2019.

The paints business expanded through the acquisition of AkzoNobel India, now JSW Dulux Limited. According to the company, the transaction positioned JSW Paints as India’s fourth-largest paints company.

Jindal is also a Director on the Board of JSW Energy, which the company describes as India’s third-largest power producer, and serves as Chairman of JSW One, the group’s B2B e-commerce platform for building materials.

At the group level, he provides direction across Human Resources, Information Technology, Sustainability and Digital Transformation, with the stated objective of advancing green and innovative growth and the vision of “Make in India for Bharat and the world.”

He also serves as a Director of JSW Ventures and JSW USA and is the Founding Director of JSW Defence.

Outside the JSW Group’s individual businesses, Jindal is President of the Cement Manufacturers’ Association and the National Council for Cement and Building Materials.

Education and Sporting Interests

Jindal earned an MBA from Harvard Business School in 2016 after completing a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science from Brown University in 2012.

His interests also extend prominently into professional and Olympic sport.

He founded JSW Sports, which owns and manages teams including Bengaluru FC, winners of the 2018-19 Indian Super League, and Haryana Steelers, who won the Pro Kabaddi League championship in 2024.

Jindal is also Chairman and Co-Owner of Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League.

JSW’s sports programme includes the Inspire Institute of Sport, or IIS, a high-performance ecosystem operating across eight centres and seven Olympic sports in India. According to the company, the network supports more than 25,000 athletes nationwide, while 42 IIS-supported athletes represented India at the Paris Olympics.

JSW Sports received the Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar in 2018 from the President of India for its contribution to sport through corporate social responsibility.

Jindal was included in the Economic Times “40 Under Forty” list in 2019 and GQ’s “50 Most Influential Young Indians” in 2026. He also received the Gen-Next Entrepreneur Award at the Forbes India Leadership Awards in March 2024.

His wife, Anushree Jindal, oversees Svamaan Financial Services, a micro-finance venture that is 100% owned by the couple.

Jindal has also been associated with social-development initiatives. He supervised the creation of an Android-based application designed to track developmental indicators of children below the age of six. The programme was used in three talukas of Maharashtra’s Palghar district where the JSW Foundation operates, with the organisation reporting a decline in malnutrition prevalence.

In 2014, then Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis ordered the technology to be implemented across the state.

Jindal’s appointment as Chairman of JSW MG Motor India further integrates the automotive joint venture into his wider responsibilities across cement, paints, energy, digital commerce, sport and emerging businesses. For JSW MG Motor India, the leadership change comes as competition in India’s electric vehicle market intensifies and manufacturers increasingly place localisation, scale and technology at the centre of their growth strategies.
