New Delhi: Sonalika Tractors has reported its highest-ever first-quarter overall sales, selling 53,661 tractors in the April-June period of FY27 and crossing the 50,000-unit mark in just three months, the company said on Thursday.
The tractor manufacturer registered 23.1% overall growth during the quarter, outperforming the estimated industry growth of 18.3%. Sonalika also said it emerged as the leading market share gainer in the domestic tractor market during April-June 2026.
For a sector closely tied to farm sentiment, crop cycles and monsoon expectations, the numbers mark a strong start to the financial year. In tractor terms, Sonalika’s Q1 was less of a warm-up lap and more of a full-throttle run across the field.
The company attributed the performance to its focus on delivering what it calls “Jeetne ka DUM”, a brand proposition built around power, reliability and farmer productivity. Sonalika said the latest milestone reflects sustained demand for its tractor technologies and its emphasis on customer satisfaction over the past three decades.
Sonalika said its recently launched Gold Tractor series has received an encouraging response from farmers during the ongoing Kharif season. The series features what the company describes as the biggest 3-cylinder 3,532cc engine, along with performance-focused features aimed at improving farm profitability.
The company also pointed to its integrated manufacturing and research capabilities as key contributors to its growth. Sonalika operates what it calls the world’s largest integrated tractor plant, supported by global R&D capabilities and continued investments in precision engineering.
Sharing his thoughts on the new benchmark performance, Mr Raman Mittal, Joint Managing Director, International Tractors Limited, said, ‘’We are proud to have crossed the 50000 tractor sales mark in just 3 months of FY’27 and registered our highest ever Q1 overall sales of 53,661 tractors. Driven by a staggering 23.1% overall growth, we have also beaten the industry performance (18.3% est.) and stand as leading market share gainer in the domestic market. We have consistently challenged conventional thinking patterns to build new performance standards with our ‘Jeetne ka DUM’ and strengthened deep rooted farmer trust with our reliable and powerful tractors. What matters most to us is constantly raising the benchmark for what is possible in Indian agriculture and advancing Indian engineering onto the global stage. As Q2 FY’27 commences, we are ready to ensure efficient and uninterrupted farm operations for farmer’s continuous growth.”
Sonalika’s Q1 performance comes at the beginning of the Kharif season, a crucial period for tractor demand as farmers prepare for sowing and related agricultural activity. Strong tractor sales are often seen as an indicator of rural momentum, though demand can vary with rainfall, crop prices, financing access and regional farm conditions.
With the first quarter of FY27 now closed, Sonalika’s record sales provide an early signal of resilience in India’s farm equipment market. For the company, the challenge will be to sustain that momentum through the rest of the year, when the real test will be not just selling more tractors, but keeping pace with the evolving needs of Indian farmers.
