Hennessey Unveils VelociRaptor SUV Expedition, Because School Runs Apparently Needed More Drama

Sealy, Texas: Hennessey has taken its famous VelociRaptor nameplate and stretched it into full-size family territory with the unveiling of the new VelociRaptor SUV Expedition, a three-row performance SUV designed for buyers who want practicality, presence, and enough off-road attitude to make a regular school run look like a Baja stage.

Based on the Ford Expedition Tremor, the new Hennessey VelociRaptor SUV Expedition combines the comfort and usability of a large family SUV with a stronger stance, upgraded hardware, and the kind of road presence that politely suggests other vehicles make space.

The SUV is powered by Ford’s twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 engine, producing 440 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque, equivalent to 691 Nm. Hennessey says the powertrain offers strong real-world performance while retaining the refinement and long-distance comfort expected from a full-size three-row SUV.

The VelociRaptor SUV Expedition marks an expansion of Hennessey’s well-known VelociRaptor family, which has built a strong identity over more than a decade through high-performance trucks and SUVs. This time, the focus is not just on speed and aggression, but also on carrying the family, luggage, pets, snacks, and possibly half a weekend plan without complaint.

Alex Roys, President of Hennessey, said, “The demand we’re seeing for high-performance SUVs and trucks continues to grow rapidly, especially from customers who want something distinctive with real capability, comfort, and practicality. Ford’s Expedition platform gives us an outstanding foundation that we enhance with bold Hennessey design, greater off-road capability, and the kind of three-row practicality customers can use every day.”

To improve its go-anywhere ability, Hennessey has equipped the SUV with an upgraded off-road suspension setup, a two-inch lift that increases ground clearance by 51 mm, and all-terrain tyres mounted on bespoke 20-inch Hennessey Performance wheels. The SUV also gets Brembo front brakes and an integrated LED off-road lighting package, because when a family SUV looks this serious, it should probably be able to see the trail before scaring it.

The exterior receives a more assertive Hennessey treatment, including a revised front bumper that blends with the factory design while giving the SUV a more muscular identity. Hennessey-branded steel front skid plates add extra protection for off-road use and also make it very clear that this Expedition has no intention of living only in mall parking lots.

Despite the added aggression, practicality remains a major part of the VelociRaptor SUV Expedition’s appeal. The three-row cabin offers space for passengers and luggage, while upgraded power sidesteps help occupants climb into the raised cabin without turning every entry into a gym session. Inside, each vehicle gets serial-numbered plaques, highlighting the limited-production nature of the model.

Hennessey says every VelociRaptor SUV Expedition will be dyno-tested, road-tested, fully street-legal, and backed by a 3-year / 36,000-mile limited warranty. That means owners can enjoy the extra attitude with some peace of mind, whether they are heading off-road or simply arriving at dinner with unnecessary but highly entertaining confidence.

The new Hennessey VelociRaptor SUV Expedition will be produced in extremely limited numbers and sold exclusively through authorized Hennessey Ford dealers. Customer orders are now open through local Hennessey Ford dealers.
